United Kingdom The Call -- December 31st, 2013

Terror dials home on Blu-ray this Christmas from Warner Home Video in a BD/UV pack.

Quote:
Personal thoughts: I caught this yesterday and it was a fantastic suspense thriller, but the final 30 seconds almost ruined the entire film.

The Call Blu-ray
Watched this a couple of months ago. Totally agree with what's quoted above, the last few minutes completely ruin what was a very good film.

Release date is tomorrow, 27th January. Who is picking this one up?

I own the Sony US release, very enjoyable film IMO, except for the WTF final act.

I was going to, but the press release doesn't note all the special features from the US release, so I'll have a gander in-store tomorrow.

I hated the final 10 seconds or so.

The Sony US release has tons of extras, including an excellent commentary.

According to the press release, the UK release is missing the commentary, deleted scenes and ending and an audition tape.

I can play Region A discs through my laptop and hook it up to my TV via HDMI, but I shouldn't have to.

What was so good about the first two acts? I thought it went downhill as soon as the girl was kidnapped.

Isn't UK release Warner. If so have obviously not paid Sony to license their extras.

Picked up the last copy at HMV for £12.99. Same bonus features as the US listed on the back. No slip.

I haven't watched it yet, I'll be able to confirm tonight, but the back doesn't mention it. And on a separate note, Warner is so lazy with their back artwork. This marks the 4th consecutive release I've brought from them where the back art is plain black.

wow that is pretty lazy, heh.

I see the Sony logo under the WB one on the back cover. Pity about the commentary track.

I can confirm the commentary track is missing, along with Michael Eklund's audition tape. Everything else is there, along with the "alternate" ending which plays alongside the deleted scenes and is not a separate option.

Bit of a pity, but for £13, I can let it go.
