The cover says it includes color filters but I haven't actually opened it yet to see what's in it. Just got it Tuesday. There's a long thread here on the disc though and it probably discusses such things in detail. If I can find it, I'll post the link to the thread here.

If it's like the dvd version, yeah, it has color filters. I'm confused as to why they wouldn't do anything "unless your tv was professionally calibrated." First off, that's the purpose of the disk- to calibrate it. Second, they're color filters- in what way would they not work? You use them to make sure your colors are properly dialed in. It's fairly cut and dry.

The long thread on the DVE disc included a few of us complaining about the guy behind it so it might be better to avoid it anyway.

Edit: I think the 2nd one is the one I was trying to find. Thanks. Yeah, that's the one. Heh, found my complaint about it listed and of course, I just recently bought it when I originally said I wouldn't.

I used this Blu-ray to calibrate my TV and it ended up looking worse than when I used the THX Optimizer in the T2 DVD.

If anybody knows any tricks to really making it work please let me know.

Mainly I found if you make a big adjustment on any one category you have to go back through and do them all over again to account for the change. I noticed a good enough difference over the other calibrations I had done (T@ one and the Ratatouille one) Not huge, but noticeable

SONY Blu-Rays have a Calibration tool on them but dont explain to you what your picture should look like.Look in the paper booklet in one of your SONY Blu-Rays and it will tell you how to access it.

hey guys, I was just reading some stuff about colormeters or whatever they are called. And basically they work well with this DVE disc. My question is, do I have to now get a colormeter to be able to utulize this disc?? thanks

here's what I'm talking about by the way

Pretty much everyone around here that has this disk was commenting that they couldn't get the Greens right using it. I think Deci dug something up to the effect that the green filter does not work properly. Maybe he can give some more info. I don't remember where I saw his last post about it, but I think it was in one of the threads in the HT sections, not in the thread about the disk itself. I could be mistaken though...

Just got my calibration disc. And yes, when matching up the colors through the filter, the green was the only one that didn't match up right. But other wise the red and blue I was able to correct. I have to say the disc is absolutely great however I was hoping it would be a little easier to understand.

I still do not understand where the sharpness is suppose to be set at. And what is overscan??? Also how do I know when something is clipping??? Like when I'm setting my contrast it says to turn my contrast up until either the white or black clips. Does this mean when the steps dissapear and the shades of gray meld into eachother?? lol

I wish it explained how to use the advance video test patterns like it does with the basic ones. But other wise I think the disc is very helpfull. At least I got my colors where they are suppose to be and also I got my black level where it is suppose to be. I have been tweaking it since I got my t.v a year ago. But Im just going to leave it alone now. Thanks guys

Although written for the HD DVD version, I found this helpful:
