Lightbulb The world should have Gummo on Blu-Ray!

Yes, Gummo. The only movie I absolutlely need in my Blu-Ray collection. I know there are plenty of titles coming out every week but I have not seen this movie on any production schedule yet. Movies like There Will Be Blood, Belly, and The Transformers will hold me over in the coming months, and I am indeed happy about these. But I need Gummo ASAP. Watching Harmony Korine's directorial bebut on Blu-Ray would be pure heaven. If you are a fan of this movie and you are somehow a Blu-Ray exec or related to one, please ask for this classic. If you do know this movie, you need to see it. Thanks for everyone's time.

Are you kidding me?! That is definitely the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. I consider it a testament to my determination that I even made it through all of that craptastic film. However, in the interest of adding something productive to my post filled with absolute contempt for such a blight on the face of film, the DVD at least, made the film appear to have been shot on 16mm, thus making a blu-ray transfer pointless.

Thumbs up

Yeah! The world NEEDS Gummo on BD.

It was shot on 35mm and it is an awesome movie!

I would also immediatley buy Harmony Korine's "Julien Donkey-Boy" veen though the DVD looks like it wouldn't improve much on BD.

The DVD was recently reissued by Warner Archive so if a Blu-ray happens, it will likely be from there.

I have the dvd which is OOP now. You would think they would of put out the blu-ray by now with Spring Breakers out there kind of introducing the world to Harmony Korine (although he's been out forever).

I'd be all for it on blu-ray. Maybe a special edition. Yes!

I'd like to see this movie, I think the new re-released DVD for $18.95 is way too expensive though.

Gummo wasn't a bad film, it was just extremely disturbing. I've seen this a couple of times, and have no interest in ever seeing it again. And, the PQ on the regular DVD wasn't that bad.

Gummo is strangely one of the better looking DVD's I own, I'm glad I held onto it. That being said I would still buy a Blu-ray of this in a second. I feel that Harmony Korine is one of the most unique filmmakers - those that hated this film remind me to never to take movie suggestions from you haha

No, Gummo was shot and printed in 35mm.
Only some shots were done on VHS, 8mm and 16mm.

I've seen Gummo a couple of times. It's definitely a twisted film that sheds a light on a group of people that live on the fringes of society; very sad in some ways, and some scenes are actually somewhat stomach-turning. The film may as well be a documentary.

One of the reasons I like this is that it co-stars Linda Manz, one of the most underrated actresses in cinema. She has been in very few films over the years, notably the superb Terence Malick film Days of Heaven (with Richard Gere & Brooke Adams), the deeply disturbing Out of the Blue (w/Dennis Hopper), and a very small cameo in David Fincher's excellent thriller The Game (1997).

Maybe Criterion will release it given its reputation nowadays, esp among the under 40 crowd?
