Maybe currently players wont work they can read a max of 8 layers and this is 200 layers. Im thinking that when their 1 terabyte optical drive comes out you'll be able to still use all your old blu-rays since ist designed using similar specs etc..

Imagine a 5 disk BD changer, and the file server you could run with THAT puppy! All the warez you could imagine! Oh wait, those kind of local BBSs are gone aren't they...

This is a much better idea than the other Terrabyte optical drive we have seen flouted about because this is to remain backwards compatible.
There comes a point of no return when you have 1080p media and pump up the bit rates to 100MB per second. This might be better suited for 4K displays or projection type home theaters. All in all, a concept toy for the rich as of right now. |

Definitely. But I remember a time when I was a serious nerd bad-ass for having 3.5 terabytes of RAID 5 storage in my house. Now you can buy that much storage with RAID 0/1 it at Fry's for under $900.
