On July 1, 2014, Universal Music Enterprises celebrates the 30th Anniversary of Legend with the release of the CD/Blu-ray Pure Audio Disc™ combo set Legend 30th Anniversary Edition (Island Records/Tuff Gong/UMe). Coupled with the original release of Legend, this deluxe version features this iconic collection entirely mixed in 5.1 by the GRAMMY® Award winning producer Bob Clearmountain on Blu-Ray Pure Audio Disc™ and now includes the original, early studio version of “No Woman No Cry,” in lieu of the previous live version. Also featured are two, previously unheard alternate takes of “Easy Skanking” and “Punky Reggae Party” recently discovered in the Marley vault. Classic Marley anthems include “Three Little Birds,” “Get Up Stand Up,” “One Love/People Get Ready,” “No Woman No Cry” and “I Shot The Sheriff,” which was later a No. 1 hit for Eric Clapton, as well as “Jamming,” “Exodus,” “Redemption Song” and “Is This Love.”

Both the CD and Blu-Ray Pure Audio Disc™ are housed in a 28-page, casebound book featuring extended liner notes, unseen photos and forewards written by Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, and liner notes by author of the book Marley, Christopher Farley.

Damn, was hoping some day we'd get the entire Island studio albums done in 5.1 but I'll take this for now.

Anyone familiar with Bob Clearmountain's 5.1 mixes? I don't recognize the name.

For brand new 5.1 mixes for those interested it's a bloody great price compared to the releases that are forcing you to consider buying stupidly-priced exorbitant box sets with all kinds of fluff you don't want just to get the Blu-ray 5.1, see Soundgarden and Pink Floyd and I'm sure others.

Different, this is the European "High Fidelity Pure Audio" release which contains the album in stereo only. Steer clear of this one.

Man, so excited to get this one, can't believe Amazon.ca delayed a week over the US site...they do this too often. I reckon a lot of their stock on certain company's releases has to come from their US distribution centre hence the release delay.

But yeah, champing at the bit to hear Bob's 5.1 mix of Bob.

IT ARRIVED!

Unfortunately, the wife is napping, so I can't crank it.

Even playing it at low volume, the separation is divine. I feel like I'm surrounded by Wailers.
I feel like my face is gonna break from over-smiling!

On Redemption Song, the vocals are front & center with reverb/echo in the surrounds. Damn, it's beautiful.

Most of the songs use well-placed FL, FR, SL, SR instruments that create an amazing listening experience.

The Digibook is very nice. Beautiful pictures dispersed throughout the liner notes & song lyrics.
There is PCM 2.0, Dolby True HD 5.1, & DTSHD MA 5.1 available.

Great slideshow with various Bob Marley pics plays along with the music.
I apologize for not being more technical, but I just wanted to post some early impressions.

I can't upload pics from the device I'm on right now. Trust me: It's beautifully amazing!

So happy to hear pretty much universal praise for the surround mix! Amazon Canada not releasing until July 8th, I can hardly contain myself. Bob Marley and the Wailers in 5.1 high rez! AWESOME!!!!
