Along Came a Spider (Lee Tamahori)

Paramount will release Lee Tamahori's Along Came a Spider (2001), starring Morgan Freeman and Monica Potter, on Blu-ray in several markets shortly, The German variant will appear on 8 May, and is currently the cheapest import to the USA.

I enjoyed this film.

Good to see as the earlier Kiss the Girls was released by Paramount in Germany and most European markets but not the UK last year.

Just noticed this thread while trying to find any further information on these new releases.

Has anyone actually purchased this, the French or Spanish version yet? I'm curious as to how they compare to the Italian version, in particular the picture quality? Noticed it's on a 50GB disc rather than the 25GB used by the Italian version, plus I'm hopeful that being an official Paramount Pictures release, it should be better than the old release? Or is the larger disc mostly just being used for extras and such like? And is the Italian version missing some content, or are the running times just calculated differently? 102 mins against the 103/104 showing for these newer releases.

The German version is on its way but it could be a few weeks before it arrives.

All of the recently / to-be-released international Paramount editions should be identical. The scan is already out, and this should be a BD-50 disc with a 33.96 Mbps MPEG=4 AVC video bitrate and DTS-HD MA 5.1 (48kHz, 24-bit) at 4588 kbps. Be prepared, however, for an older source, as most of these Paramount titles do not use new HD masters. The run time is 1:43:10.

I will confirm when I receive my German disc, which, it would seem, was delayed with Amazon.de.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll check back when hopefully you've got your copies, was looking to hold out for the Australian version anyway just for the english box, but that'll depend on the total cost of importing to the UK. Suppose I could just get the cheapest release and have a printing place sort out my own cover.

Amazon.de shipping has gone down hill especially when they use DHL. My last order took a little over 3 weeks and there's still no sign of this package. Amazon has sent a replacement and it should arrive next week.

I hate when amazon.de uses DHL Global Mail. It is the worst, pretty much could take a month if you get it at all. I have had to replace orders because of it in the past, forced me to bundle and use their Express Mail International, which is expensive and but guaranteed to come on time. That is why I wait to bundle a few blu-rays before I order. Hope you get the replacement soon, and if you get a chance to check the Region. I have a region free player but prefer a region A if possible. Thanks.

Guys, this is a Paramount catalog BD, it's guaranteed to be Region ABC from the language options offered, but just to be sure, I checked my copy, and it is indeed region-free.

I just got an email from Paramount saying they have no plans to release Along Came a Spider on blu ray in North America. Idiots
