Yeah, Season 1 has been released on BD in the UK, France, Germany and soon Australia. Strangely enough, Universal is in the habit of releasing TV on blu-ray in Europe but not America. Other examples include Smash Season 1 (France only), The Event (UK & France), Caprica (France only), Eureka (Complete Series in Germany, Season 5 in France), The King of Queens Complete Series (Germany only), Dracula (UK only) and House M.D. Seasons 1-5 (Germany, Spain, UK, Netherlands & Japan)

I checked out the Amazon UK comments, and there is one person complaining about scratched discs, but he's referring to the DVD edition. Other people talk only of the show itself, not really the disc qualities. I was however able to get in touch with a Blu-ray.com member who also owns the set and was kind enough to check his disc and found no problems, so it seems mine is an isolated issue. Thus I will write to Amazon and cross my fingers that they will issue a replacement.

To be honest, I'm not particularly interested in the other titles you mention -- except Dracula (which may yet get a US release) and Caprica. But are the European Universal releases region free?

Sure, I still think it's an odd and somewhat random practice though.

I believe they are yes. The only isssue I've heard is that Caprica is in 1080i, not 1080p, and apparently some players have issues playing that.

Powerful Episode last night
[Show spoiler] Going to be interesting to see how the Jones suicide plays out. I thought she really did appreciate that everyone in 51 seemed to have her back. Shame her character resorted to doing what she did.

I saw it coming about halfway through the episode. I was looking forward to her sticking to her old man and staying at 51.

I'm afraid I saw it coming too, but not until her scene at Molly's with Herrmann. It was her "walking dead" look that gave it away. I'm rather surprised that no one thought of the obvious out for her: apply for a firefighting job in another city where her father didn't have influence.

I was actually surprised this didn't happen a couple of episodes ago. When the trailer for the episode about the husband who protected his family in the fire first showed, and had a shot of Casey at the inquest saying "It was the bravest thing I've ever seen," I was expecting that it was going to be about Jones dying during a call.

It's funny that when they first introduced Jones, I (like probably a lot of other people) took a dislike to her because she was set up to be something of an antagonist of Dawson's. But rather like the guys at 51, I came to actually like her as time went on. Of course, it helps that I liked the actress in the late, lamented (at least by me) Last Resort.

Last night's episode got on my nerves, it's the first episode in this series that I can say I don't like... season 2 was going extremely well but lately I'm favoring Chicago PD. Anyone else dissatisfied?

I am dissatisfied . Show is starting to become just too much drama and not much fun. Chicago PD is a better show. Both shows need more desk Sergeant.

I'm favoring CPD these days, but that says more about CPD's positives than about CF's negatives.

In at least one respect, I'm enjoying CF more than I had before. One of the reasons I started watching it in the first place was because I like David Eigenberg (Herrmann), and it seems like he's been getting more screen time lately than he had been before.

Amy Morton is a gem. She's become my favorite character on CPD, and I get a smile on my face when I see her name come up in the guest credits on CF. Hell, I even like it when her name comes up in the guest credits on Blue Bloods (she's an occasionally recurring character on that show).

I hope she gets upgraded to a regular next season.

What was it? Did the storyline with Jones bug you?

I thought it was a pretty sad turn of events for the character. She really wanted to be fire fighter, yet her father disapproved and ultimately he had control over her career. The character felt helpless. I think what she ultimately did was a little extreme.

I had a brief thought that they might take that direction with her character, then when they took it, I wasn't thrilled with it. It was a bit extreme and very sad but I think the creative team thought it was a means to an end, as this last episode was pure aftermath. It did give Eigenberg, Raymund and especially Eamonn Walker an opportunity to showcase a lot of great material, though. I did enjoy this week's much more! I also was very happy with Casey and Dawson's scene near the end of the episode.

I'm guessing that not everyone will be returning for the season premiere!

I'm thinking that one or more of the following don't make it out of that explosion.

Mills
Cruz
Otis
"Mouch" (although it looked like they may be trying to hook him up with Sergeant Platt from PD)
New guy (can't remember what his name was?)

Before today, the BBFC had added listings to their website for this autumn's UK DVD and Blu-ray release of Chicago Fire's second season - I Am a Firefighter and the first episode of spin-off Chicago P.D., "Stepping Stone". Some trailers appear to have been added to the BBFC website as well (including an ad for Chicago P.D.). Today, several listings have been added for 'Behind the Scenes' bonus features on Chicago Fire season two episodes (I'm glad there's a Behind the Scenes for the episodes "Tonight's the Night" and " A Dark Day").

Don't know if this has already been posted about on the forum (is there a music folder or sub-folder?), but later this month a couple of CD soundtrack albums for Chicago Fire are being released (one album for each season). They're available for pre-order on Amazon.com, but there's no tracklist info at the moment. Both soundtracks are being released on Tuesday 23rd September.

Wow, truly epic season premier, one of the hardest most emotional premiers ever, what a way to start Chicago Fire off this year.
