Default 30" Hdtv Tube

Does anyone own one? I have a 30" Samsung Slimfit, which I bought at Bestbuy as a closeout for $399. And I honestly think it has the best picture I've ever seen vs any 30" LCD screen.

I want to add two more to the bedrooms, but rather than getting two more LCD, I'm thinking of saving some money and getting 2 CRT HD tubes since I'm not going to wall mount it or anything and don't care how much they weight

I realize how hard they are to find. Even google was little to no help. Anyone know of these hidden gems?

*edit* oh, looks like this year's slimfits are SDTV

Last year's slim-fits are still around, though. My BX/PX has one still. I've also heard its still possible to find Sony XBR's.

Am I exaggerating when I say that these HD slimfits look as good as the Panasonic plasmas?, because they do.

Ah. On with the Scavenger hunt. I see by your username you're a tube fan, there's far and few between.

And I see they're still selling these tubes on 3rd party websites, but I'm not insane enough to pay almost $700.

Well, if that's what you want to do then go for it, but I definitely see a difference with CRT vs. LCD/Plasma

They have the best black levels, only rivaled by the best PLasmas. PLasmas and LCDs are sharper and brighter, but its is often pretty extreme. For example my LCD, I have sharpness set to -11, much higher than that and everything becomes harsh looking. I also wear glasses so my vision is really great when corrected, but yeah you get the point.

Also, haha, a "top tube" is a mountain biking term for the upper tube on a bike from.

In the end, I would take a nice plasma over a tube tv because of the size and weight difference. Tube is a great way to go though for budget and Wii users.
