Default Movie Theater Quality

Just curious what is the resolution we see films at in a movie theater? How much different is it from BD?

If you mean at a DLP theater...it's 2k x 1k.

If your talkng about an actual film reel on a projector...that will depend on the size of the film and what cameras are used to film it to determine the native graininess. Film at this point has a much higher density because it's a chemical process...but it degrades and after a few showings flaws begin to show.
I'm sure there are opinions about what would be the equivalent on a 40+ foot screen but I think it would be somewhere in the 4k x 2k give or take.

Opinions will vary.

Default la la la

BD = 1080 x 1920 digital pixels

DLP theater = 1024 x 1280 (older) to 1080 x 2048 (newer) digital pixels

35mm projection = about 700 x 1300 analog lines of resolution 1.85
35mm projection = about 700 x 1700 analog lines of resolution 2.39

Yes, it's called a 1080p projector and you use it to watch Pirates of the Caribbean BD, jorg.

a 1080 x 2048 is just the pro version. The difference in pixels is 3% and as with broadcast, you don't see NTSC 525 lines you see 480 on your TV.

To see a difference in sharpness quality you'd need someting more like, like 1200 x 2160

My guess is that if your checkbook could stand it, they would probably sell you one or more.
