Nice avatar, Morsoth. I guess you wouldn't have a larger version (kind of wish the French blu had your cover)?

Yes! I made this fake cover in Photoshop and the original size is huge! I'll send you the file in PM later tonight or tomorrow.

Great news!
Have had this movie on VHS, and later on DVD, excellent and atmospheric, especially the first part with Bruce Payne, cant wait to get this one on Blu-ray.

The Metropolitan DVD had forced subs, so that doesn't bode well

Has any Metropolitan Blu-Ray so far had forced subtitles? I have some Blu-Rays from them, and none of them have it. I'd be more worried about 50hz material than anything else (for those in US/Can).

Why do you hope this? Even if you can't understand English, isn't it better to select the subtitle instead of being obligated to have them?

They aren't forced. I have the DVD and I remember I could remove the subtitles.

Pre-ordered this morning, praying the subs aren't forced.
I have the DVD from Metropolitan and the subs are forced on mine (maybe later pressings changed this?).
The German DVD doesn't have forced subs.

Picture quality will be good but I can't stand forced subs.

Really? That's the first Metropolitan BD I have heard of that have it. I wonder why they decide to do this with certain discs and not on others.

As far as I understand it, they only use forced subs on foreign films they distribute and not on their own productions.

It also depends on the studios they're dealing with. With New Line or Lionsgate catalogs they don't have to force them but with smaller independents they do. They had lawsuits before for not forcing the subtitles because "it would compete with other regions editions"...

Overal the French dvd was pretty impressive. The second disc was full of bonus material and they even made it English friendly (most was in French w/ English subs). Bad thing was of course mandatory subtitles in main feature and the fact that DNR was used way too much. I hope they dial DNR to zero position this time though.

The first feedback I heard of is that DNR and EE have been lowered down. I don't know if there's zero of each though, not having had the BD in hands myself, but it seems a good sign.

I don't know if the french subs are forced.
