I kept thinking: Any minute now Mr. Ron Slater will break out a joint but he never did

Good to hear. For whatever it's worth, I just willingly bought SPEED 2: CRUISE CONTROL on BD so I've got my own issues.

Still heard nothing about this coming out in Aus at either cinema or straight-to-DVD. Looks like being an import at this rate.

Just finished this. What a nice little film. There's tons of story and good acting. And that ending sure is brutally fun. Karen Gillan was fantastic. Something about her is so likeable.

+1. I loved watching her throughout the movie. She has a really good star quality about her that makes her so likable. Would like to see her more in movies.

The lead girl is hot, but the movie left a lot to be desired. The ending could have been a lot more epic if the filmmakers built upon some of the things that seemed to be foreshadowed at the beginning.

Anyone that did not see it in the theatre, I strongly suggest NOT blind buying this film.

I'll probably pick this up for a reasonable price. I loved many aspects, but the long moments of exposition took me out of the film completely. Still, It's a decent horror film with a truly powerful ending.

I couldn't disagree more. This was truly spine-tingling horror. Weak? Not at all. It wasn't particularly gory, but it was supremely chilling.

I'm just glad that general audiences didn't fall for the second rate magic trick of the latter in as many numbers as they did for the former.

OCULUS, however, delivers on its promise, and does so in spades. For me, it's been the best horror film since THE MIST, and the best of its type since THE RING.
Are you saying Cabin in the Woods was a box office disappointment?

Yes, I am. Now, mind you, I'm quite sure it still made some measure of profit, but being sold and critically lauded as the Second Coming of Great Horror cinema as it was, the box office numbers never reflected that. It wasn't as shocking of a gap between the hype and the final box office tally as, say, SNAKES ON A PLANE (which isn't even the best comparison, since SoaP had hype but no critical notices, like CitW did), but it was still notable.

So now box office numbers define great films? Cabin In The Woods is the best horror film in the last 15 years. It's not its fault that audiences are too stupid today to even realize how great it is. When it came out all I saw on twitter/tumblr was "it's supposed to be scary but it wasn't". Complete idiots. Sorry it's not some shitty paranormal haunted house flick that audiences are into nowadays.

I'm not going to "go there" with you because if you'd read my post at all, you would have seen that my reference to CABIN IN THE WOODS's disappointing box office gross was not a qualitative one, just an illustrative one highlighting the gap between general audience disinterest in the film and the vehemence of affection multiple fans on these boards have for the film.
