Ed. note– I pray that if God exists in the Romero world, He doesn’t punish me or destroy my laptop for the heresy I commit by posting photos and discussion of the 30th Anniversary Edition. I do so only to save the uninformed, who may see this and think they’re getting something truly special; God forbid that they thought this was the real and only version! I’m also not including the standard Amazon link at the end of the review. For one reason: I’m not letting you buy this. –P.F.

*Note: This does not exist but we all know at some point it will on blu-ray!

Oh man. What a nightmare. I still can't scrape the extra shitty scenes from my brain. One of those hack-jobs entirely deserving of the hate. And to think, we haven't really gotten an official region 1 release. Why won't the Weinstein's re-release their dvd release for BD? It came out at the same time as Diary of the Dead and that has made the jump. Put it in a two pack. Those are the only 2 Romero zombie films I don't have on BD.

I have absolutely no doubt that many people will not read the link and will think this is great news. so easiest thing is just to make it real clear--
THIS IS A FAKE VERSION OF THE ORIGINAL FILM WITH NEWLY FILMED SCENES ADDED INTO THE FILM.

I'd buy this again if it somehow helped me forget it ever existed.

I had the misfortune of running into the usual NOTLD "convention crew" at Chiller Theatre (Russo, Streiner, et al) back in the 90's when this was being prepped for release....they talked me into buying a copy. I was so much of a fan of all involved with the original, I bit.

The movie simply ruins the original in every way.

Here's hoping this thread and these comments save someone from suffering through it....on blu-ray no less.....sheesh.

Wait, is this actually coming out? Or are you just warning people in case it does? Because I really doubt this would ever come out on Blu-ray, especially since I'd imagine that it's properly copyrighted, meaning someone would actually pay to release this.

Licina is a lousy actor/ priest/ musician

Funny that I never missed Rosie in the real film

Why Debbie why? Oh yeah, you know Russo.

If you think the NOTLD 30th Anniversary Movie is bad movie, then you have not seen the sequel "Children of the Living Dead".

These are specs that I came up with based on the DVD release if all the content from the original DVD was transfered and released in HD on a blu-ray disc. Also some of the other specs are from the original DVD release.

Regarding NOTLD 30th Anniversary Edition: In time, yes this will be released on blu-ray. It is my guess the Shriek Show will be the ones to do it. To do an blu-ray release, there are also licensing costs even using the Sony Proprietary blu-ray technology. Plus the cost of doing a fresh transfer of all content in HD and then of course paying licensing costs to whomever owns the rights to this release, yes, it would be expensive. But, the thing is, people will still buy it including myself as either an oddity or those who may be unsuspecting may buy it thinking the extended scenes were filmed in back in 1968(1964).

The Priest gives us his wisdom:

Perhaps an Extra Feature in the film :

Flesh Eater has been released on Blu-ray. Also Zombie 4 is also set for release on blu-ray. So there is a market for this genre no matter how bad the film may be.

Children of the Living Dead is far far worse. You need to watch this to see how bad a zombie movie can be. It makes NOTLD 30th Anniversary look like Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling. Yes, Children of the Living Dead is that bad. I have it on DVD and it is good for a laugh from time to time. When Abbott Hayes is jiving like the Soul Man in the beginning, you know it is going to be bad. I really can't put it into words:

5:35 The truly horrible acting

9:35 Abbot Hayes grooves onto the road and then OH NO!!!!

Default The Reverend

So there is no news about this being released on blu-ray.

As for everyone's favorite preacher:

While filming the extra parts for the 30th Anniversary Edition of "Night of the Living Dead", he sustained a heatstroke and a severe sunburn during an unusually hot day.
