Heh heh, agreed. It looks like a cover for one of those old Pan Book of Horror paperbacks from the 1970s. Perhaps Shock couldn't secure copyright of legit Phibes artwork or stills...?

Didn't see any of these in my local JB today. It's not surprising tho, we seem to be the last to get anything here out west.

BUT having said that - FFF is as bad a HD transfer on blu ray as I have ever seen.
I never post, but this (FFF) release on BD has got my blood boiling
maybe I just got a bad disc.......so am willing to stand corrected
I was going to email Cult Cinema direct but couldn't find a contact point
very disappointing, considering the diverse range they have been releasing of late (and general speaking, OK quality)
but i was really after a good transfer to retire my criterion and image DVD's of FFF.
maybe not yet.....
I concur on requesting some screen caps. I purchased the Japanese blus and I thought they looked quite excellent (fairly solid black levels, good color timing [no "teal-orange" revisionism] and a fine mist of film grain [no MOONTRAP DNRing]). I don't know if they are 1080i as well, but I can check.

PS: do the Aussie blus have the Criterion extras? Because the Japanese blus have all the extras, including the commentaries.

I hope its the NZ Theatrical version... but I doubt it... probably a port of the USA release.

Yes! Day one purchase for me. I missed out on the US 'Dead Alive' release a few years ago and refuse to pay the asking prices for what is suppose to be an ordinary release.

I mirror LC's comments. Unless it is sourced from a Euro master I don't see it being anything but an edited version ala all US DVD releases

Seconded. I have the full-length DVD and will live with that until a definitive release comes out.

This was just asked on their Facebook page..

Cinema Cult
The big question we've been asked. As of this moment the DVD will be 104 mins and the Blu-Ray will be 97 mins. But we'll let you know if the specs change

Also they are going to be releasing Society
But I'm not sure if that is going to be released on Blu-Ray

At worst, I'd like the option of standard definition inserts on the blu ray if possible

Yeah I figured as much. Will be interesting if they edit in the Braindead title though.

There are special features out there for Braindead.. they just need to do some rights purchasing to get them.

Eh? No it's not, it's fantastic.. it's the original poster art.

They could have gone completely different and used the original promo art though if they wanted...
