Looks like they decided to raise the price to $35. Still relatively cheap but it's a big bump up from $18. It was nice while it lasted.

That's how these wholesome family programming pushers do it. They get you hooked on the stuff cheap and then jack up the prices once you're addicted.

Wow that is a huge price jump! I liked the first 2 seasons but I think I will stop if it's the seasons will be over $20. Oh well 2 seasons is better than no seasons....

The suggested retail price is about the same. Walmart just doesn't have it discounted the same as the past seasons. It's not discounted much from that price at all. Hopefully they'll lower it or eventually it will pop up at a lower price elsewhere.

I will be buying this from Amazon, but I'll be waiting for a price drop. Something like $25 or less.

Give it time, it will come down. Walmart did the same with Season 2 when it was first listed.

Default OK, I'm extremely confused

Let me get this straight......Little House On The Prairie, I Love Lucy, and The Dick Van Dyke Show, and Star Trek TOS all get Blu ray releases. HOWEVER.........I'm still waiting on 24, Buffy, and Angel. Three shows that were produced decades later!!! Someone please explain this to me! Explain this to me now!

Older series were shot--and more importantly--edited on film, so all the studios have to do are simple telecine transfers from a film source. Through the 80s, 90s and early 00s, most shows were shot on film but edited to broadcast video, so their masters only exist in standard definition.

To make high definition masters for later shows, the original film negatives have to be scanned (if they can be located, which can't always be guaranteed), then edited and post-produced all over again to match their final broadcast form.

You'd be seeing what CBS is doing with Star Trek TNG, which has been a long, arduous and expensive task, but one CBS feels worth doing because it means preparing a long-time syndication staple for redistribution in a high definition era (broadcast and streaming).

Seriously? Somebody at Amazon is getting very lazy. I am waiting for a price drop before preordering. The current price of $27.29 is too much after buying the first two seasons for less than $20 each.

It's a standard placeholder style listing until a product is fully confirmed and detailed. You'd see it done with virtually any retailer.

The prices have always dropped eventually.

If only ST: Next Gen season 6 would get down to $50 or so. Sigh.

Sorry guys.. all you where talking about the prise under $ 20.00 - the studio bring it out on BR now, restored, incl. new scan from the original (so far available) film. And this cost money for the studio too. Im willing to pay for a season around $30.00 - when the quality is very good (and so far I read/heard it is very good!).
OK, STAR TREK was expensive but its Star Trek and they worked also on the special effects.. so... it might be worth.

I will be surprised if the cost of the set does not drop closer to release.

However, I would understand if it didn't. Sales of subsequent seasons always drop as the series goes on. People that may have gotten the first or second season, satisfy their desire to own the show and do not pick up the remaining seasons.

It would make sense if more studios adjusted their pricing models based on demand due to fewer and fewer customers as a series progresses. I wouldn't mind paying $60 for the last season of little house, if I only had to pay $5 for the first season.

An entire season of classic TV and 20 dollars is too high for you?

Looks like TVshowsonDVD has the SRP for the blu ray set at $24.99 so the ultimate online price will fall 20-30% below that. Great value for a great show.

So glad they are still coming. Hope to collect the entire series.

I wonder if they would do this with the Walton's?
