anything from

Master of Puppets

The Black Album

is ok, just nothing after
Ronnie had a pretty sweet riff and Outlaw Torn is a great song - it isn't thrash, but it is still a good solid song.

Eddie Van Halen could play fast solos, that is about it...

Who knows if this will ever even happen. I would hedge to say that alot will ride on the sucess of the Aerosmith pak... even so... ANOTHER whole game for one band. IMO put on DLC and let us pick what we want instaid of force feeding us a fair amount of crap we dont even want. This smells like a hail mary/pull the goalie type of move to back off RB stales

I can see where you could draw that conclusion, but Metallica will be a lot more successful than Aerosmith (depending on song list) and will more than likely be released regardless of Aerosmith success.

As long as the majority of the soundtrack is from Master of Puppets I will be happy.

That's a good point. The song list is the key. If they keep it to what made them famous then ok, but if its only new stuff (which isnt all bad) I think it may turn away a good number of people like you and i that grew up w/ Ride the Lighning/And justice for all etc etc.
I guess we'll wait and see.

I wouldn't expect this title until after GH4...if it's released at all. If they make good on all the claims they are making to Game Informer and EGM, then GH4 will be a rock-solid title (excuse the pun). GH4 will be so huge that it will probably require everyone they have to finish because of the multi-instrument gameplay and the music creator software that will be included.

I would expect Metallica to be a holiday season 2008 release at the earliest, but probably more likely Spring 2009.

You are not a guitar player, sorry. If you were you'd be able to say his rhythm playing was just as ground breaking. And even if that's true, it's called guitar hero. Wouldn't that make sense? It worked for Dragon Force.

Do you think the Metallica release will be for the GH4 platform or along the lines of a GH3 add on pak

I'm guessing that it'll be a stand alone game so you don't need to have the previous GHs.

I do play guitar, I am primarily a bass player. Eddie Van Halen was the best 80's Mainstream (not quite hairmetal) guitar player out there. Eruption was an amazing song not because of how fast it was, but by how close to classical it was. EVH wasn't even the best guitar player in the 80's though...SRV wins that easy. Eddie Van Halen is a guitar god. But it might be a little hard to rock the Guitar Hero controller to Jump (that sound in the begining of that tune is VH jumping the shark).

Dragonforce is overrated, not my taste.

Okay, you redeemed yourself. I love SRV too, but Eddie and SRV are apples and oranges (they're both sweet). EVH is just my top fav. JUMP jumping the shark? Hardly, 1984 may not have been Fair Warning (should be in every player's catalog in my opinion) but it is a kick ass album.

Why would JUMP be on there if it was a VH guitar hero? Hello! PANAMA? HOT FOR TEACHER? UNCHAINED? AINT TALKIN'BOUT LOVE? RUNNING WITH THE DEVIL? AND THE CRADLE WILL ROCK? EVERYBODY WANTS SOME!!? Do I need to go on?

+1 you toally hit this one on the mark. IMO they correctly title that album "Load" for a reason... and went too mainstream

I seem to remember something called HD-DVD.....I think I do anyway. Maybe that was just a dream??

No, those are all DLR albums which are pretty darn good. Sammy stuck and the band has yet to recover. 1984 and Jump more specifically, was the start of the Sammy era suckfest.

I will say it again, Dragonforce is not my taste and in my meaningless opinion, they are overrated. I am sure you love them and I hope you do. I love Coheed and Cambria, and many people think that they are overrated and I am okay with that.
