Default Wal-Mart web site & big BD discounts

I looked at the Wal-Mart web site this morning and was surprised to find Cloverfield on Blu-ray priced just under $20. I was even more surprised to see the 5-disc Bladerunner collector's edition priced at only $15. The web site had nearly 70 movies priced under $20. Quite a few for only $15.

Are the regular retail WM stores carrying these prices too? If so it would seem that Wal-Mart is trying to give Amazon a little bit of competition. Maybe they dragged a few movie studio dept. heads to Bentonville, AR and talked to them about BD pricing in wake of their Blu-ray Disc aisle introduction.

Just went to Wal-Mart today to take a look and they didn't have any of those deals. I think it's online only, unless they didn't get around to setting it up in-store yet.

Wal-Mart led the under-$20 price with Cloverfield, there's a thread about it here (which is why I preordered with Wal-Mart for Cloverfield). After a couple weeks, Amazon lowered their price to match Wal-Mart's. Then Amazon listed Bladrunner for around $16, sounds like Wal-Mart is now matching Amazon, even though Amazon has now jacked up their BR price to $21 or so...

I think we will finally see the prices of BD's come down.

Right now those prices are mainly confined to the Wal-Mart online store. But some movies, such as those Rambo catalog BD titles can be had at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club for under $15 each.

Apparently the retail stores won't be offering the same discounts as the Wal-Mart web site until June 8.
