Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition

UK retailer ShopTo briefly displayed "Sleeping Dogs HD" on their storefront, with a November 21 release date.

Sleeping Dogs was one of the sleeper hits (no pun intended) of 2012, coming out of nowhere and delivering an enjoyable sandbox experience that basically put you right in the middle of a Chow Yun-Fat movie. Now, UK retailer ShopTo may have accidentally spilled the beans on a HD remake for next (current?) gen consoles.

Sleeping Dogs HD was briefly listed on their storefront, as a title for both the PS4 and Xbox One, with a November 21 release date, before being pulled. The picture looks somewhat legit, and ShopTo is a fairly major retailer. We've reached out to Square Enix for confirmation.

Last thing we heard from Sleeping Dogs studio United Front Games' is that they were working on a follow-up to Sleeping Dogs called Triad Wars. It was revealed via an off-screen teaser image in December 2013, but we haven't really heard anything about it since.

It could very well be that Triad Wars is simply a HD remix of Sleeping Dogs with additional content, which is what ShopTo has leaked. We'll update this story as we know more.

I never played the original eventhough I have it from ps plus.

I'd rather have the deus ex hr dc though.

Was the best game of 2012 IMO. But this is unnecessary and they should just focus on getting a sequel out. That being said ShopTo once used a custom cover I made for a cover on their site which I don't even know how they came across when I only posted it on a small forum in the online design section. So I don't put much thought into anything they do

What makes you think they aren't focusing on that?

Getting this out would likely be a simple port of the PC version. Easily farmed out and done in a matter of weaks.

Yes, this game was great and so was the story. Hopefully they make a sequel.

I agree with the bolded part, disagree with the second part of that thought. ;-)

I LOVE Sleeping Dogs and would LOVE for it to show up on the PS4. I'd buy it Day 1 providing it comes with all the DLC (that I already paid for on the PS3).

That was my favorite game of the year. Sadly it got little love around the Top 10 lists that I saw.

It's always nice to have enhanced versions of games and the lack of backwards compatibility makes them far more likely, so in that sense no backwards compatibility is a good thing.

This rumor doesn't sound true though, especially since they're calling it Sleeping Dogs HD (as if the original wasn't HD).

I love this game but I've had it on the 360 since the first day. The fighting and environmental kills are the shit. I need a sequel, I'll get this again when it's real cheap or free.

Sleeping Dogs was an awesome game; it's like GTA in Hong Kong with martial arts. It must have taken me 30 hours or so for the platinum, so I have no motivation to upgrade it for the PS4, but I'm still holding onto the PS3 copy in case the mood strikes me.

Last I heard, a sequel called Triad Wars is in the works by Square Enix. There doesn't appear to be much news about it of late, but it's supposed to be revealed to the public this year. I'm hoping it's coming along well; it'll be another title I'll gladly get for the next gen console.

That is cool. I never bought the game the first time around and would be more than willing to pick up an improved version of it for my ps4.

Played this game and loved it on both Xbox 360 and PS3 so I would pick this up again.

I remember playing this game and falling in love with it at first. But after the LOOOOOONG grind for the plat, I just wanted to be done with it and never bothered with the dlc.

GTA5"s online grindfest gave me the same feeling, only in SD the grind was just bearable, but in GTA5 it's just too damn long to be realistic for me.

Clearly that's a mockup design, placeholder probably. It's the exact same cover art just photoshopped into a PS4 case design.

Makes sense given how much better the pc version is to the console release. It is an odd choice to bring over. I still think the game that needs to be moved to next gen is Crysis 3. In fact that should have been delayed a year and released only on pc/next gen.
