IGN app vid quality is crap. why? - Blu-ray Forum

My connection is solid, but the video quality is terrible. I mean there's not even an option to view it on a similar quality you would via YouTube 1080p variants.

I've only watched trailers on that app and they're pretty crisp.

Yeah same here. I find the vids on IGN to look pretty good.

I'm viewing on the PS4 app and the vid quality on my 50" looks rubbish and quite pixelated on parts.

I couldn't see any option to enable higher quality or HD for vids. I'm also on a solid internet speed of 2mb/s+. I actually have Fibre so it's mainly higher most times yet everytime I full screen the videos, the quality is bad.

Shame, as they have some great vids on there time to time for games and movies.

I have verizon fios and I get 50mbps. BUT, it seems like during "peak" hours, they limit my streaming. Sometimes videos on the ps4 will not load all the way OR they will just look really bad. Now if I watch at "off" hours, it works fine.

I might actually be your cable provider? Just because you are paying for a fast connection doesnt mean they are giving it to you. Very frustrating. I have the same problem with my apple tv streaming netflix during "peak" hours.

how do your videos look / play when you play them from the PSN store on the PS4?

I use the PS4 app on my 65" TV every single day and the IGN feed is perfectly fine. I have a 30mbps broadband connection and it is rock solid. The only time I ever noticed a quality issue was with the recent E3 live feed, but that was not the fault of the app. Rather, it was due to the IGN sever being slammed. One thing I have noticed, though, is that since IGN has added pre-roll ads to PS4 app, the ads always look absolutely horrible...like super low-res YouTube videos. As an IGN Prime subscriber, I can turn off the ads on the iPad version of the app, and on their website. I hope IGN makes this option available in an upcoming update to the PS4 app.

Reading all the comments about your guys fast internet makes me jealous. My internet speed its 4mbps.
