I don't have the Box Set. And I'm weary about getting these new editions. I want them (and the sequels whebever Universal decides to do those on blu-ray!!!!!) But I'm scared to buy them now and this time next year they start releasing Legacy sets or something.

This set even includes, Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein, meet The Invisible Man, and meet the Mummy. WOW, this would have made one hell of a blu-ray release. Perhaps this set will be released again at a later date for blu-ray. By the way, did anyone else notice that there is an email address for a contact at Universal Studios Home Entertainment, hint hint !

What do you guys think about the chances of some of those Universal b-movies appearing on Blu-Ray? Maybe even a Lugosi & Karloff set?

I've always wanted to see The Raven, Black Cat, and even Murders in the Rue Morgue onto HD disc. I guess Universal has stopped at this point releasing any more of those classics in Blu Ray (there goes any chance for the B-movies).

Son of Frankenstein is another one that really needs to get a BD release. Even Dracula's Daughter, I always thought was a great sequel to Dracula. I guess chances are pretty slim but I would be willing to shell out some dough if Universal released more of these classics.

Son of Frankenstein should have been in the first set instead of Phantom of the Opera. I love Claude Rains but that movie is not so hot. Out of all the unreleased Universal Monster movies that need to be released on Blu-ray, Son of Frankenstein tops the list. It's a great movie and has what might be Bela Lugosi's best performance. That needs to happen.

When Universal released these last fall, I chose the DVD set instead of the Blu-ray...

I wanted all 30 "Monster" movies....not just the 8 which Universal was releasing on Blu-ray....I would have bought the complete set on Blu-ray in a heartbeat...

Doubt it will happen. I said the same on another thread - just not popular enough to justify spending the money for a decent remaster. While this would be a great idea in terms of simple preserving these films for later generations, it still isn't enough of a reason as long as the film itself is around. Studios tend not to worry until they absolutely have to.

Agreed on PotO. I recently tried to re-watch it after a long absence. I went into it with an open mind and I really wanted to like it but it's just bad. Not scary, too bright, not even campy. Just not interesting on any level.

I haven't been holding my breath waiting for all the sequels to be released. It's one of the reasons I've held onto my Legacy Collection DVDs, well that and they're packaged really well.

Back when dvd was the be-all-end-all and just about all of the Uni horror titles had been released (I know there are still exceptions) I was a lot more willing to give it a pass, but, yeah, now it's kind of a sore spot in that set for me. At the very least, they could have done something with the Chaney Phantom if they were gonna prepare the '43 for blu-ray release. I know it would have required more restoration beyond Image's standards, but it looks like they just did the bare minimum with the one they did release.
