Australia jb hifi pre orders help

First question is silly but when you pre order with jb hifi do they take money right away or when its out?
When you pre order something online not out yet, is it shipped before its due out or do you have to wait days after its out to arrive meaning you could go to store and buy there quicker.
Can an item thats showing online for pre order be ordered in store instead and be picked up in store.
Has anyone ordered something from store on pre order and been let down and never got it and then found no longer available online to order?

Im trying to get my head around if best doing a pre order online or in store, showing as pre order online now so am thinking or hoping it can also be ordered in store also.

They take money when they ship, I believe its meant to be shipped out day before release date but they dont always do that. Pretty sure you can also pre-order in store.

I have never received a JB pre-order on or before release date. Most of the time I could have gone to the local branch and picked it up earlier anyways as they tend to put most stock out when they get it.

I believe it also depends how you pay as to whether they take the money... If I recall correctly paying by Paypal holds the money straight away?! I could be wrong though....

I've only pre-ordered blus twice from JB. Next Generation Season 4 arrived a day before release date. A Hard Day's Night shipped yesterday, a week before release date.

No paypal has a pending transaction status until they ship.

They usually ship it on, or the day before. So you won't get it before release. I usually only do it for titles the local store wouldn't stock immediately.

Getting an item from the stores can be a bit tardy, as they often don't call you or update you on its status. I've tried to transfer an item from another store once because an online order went missing and took me at least 2 weeks to finally get a hold of it.

Never ordered a boxset, but their regular blu-rays are shipped in just a standard bubble padded envelope.

WTF is going on at JB Hi-Fi, just tried to order 2 BD's and they are now charging $43 delivery to the UK!!

Used them quite a lot over the last few years and they usually charge $11 for 2 discs.

Some sort of new site malfunction?

Yikes!

There do seem to have been lots of issues with the new site implementation, so it would be worth flicking them an email to check if this is another problem.

How are you even getting them to ship to the UK. When I tried to order the Hound of the Baskervilles Blu-ray, it says Country: Australia with no option to change to the US.

Edited to add:

Never mind. I figured it out. You have to change the country before you press Checkout. Kinda dumb. $19.49 to ship to the US. Go #$%^ yourself JB Hi Fi Online! I'll go with $11.99 from Ezy DVD, which is bad enough.

UK shipping has dropped from $43 to $15.60 now, it's better but why the $5 hike from $11??

Nuts!
