Post About "The Guardian" (Kevin Costner/Ashton Kutcher)...

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

If anyone hasn't seen "The Guardian", then I advise you not to go any further with reading this thread.

I finally watched "The Guardian" the other day on Blu-ray. Possibly one of the best films of both Kevin Costner's and Ashton Kutcher's careers. It was so powerful that it made me cry a little. For anyone who's seen the movie, I want to ask if you prefer the original ending where
[Show spoiler]Costner's character presumably falls to his death into the ocean after realizing the rescue cable wasn't able to hold onto both him and Ashton Kutcher
or the alternate ending on the Blu-ray and DVD where
[Show spoiler]Costner survives
?

I really like this movie. I would have to go with the original (more dramatic)

I liked this movie too. I also have to go with the original ending. Less predictable.

Original ending for sure. I like the emotional torch passing stuff. Reminds me of the Willis/Affleck scene in Armageddon.

Original....I think it made it a more powerful piece of cinema then the alternate.......I agree its one of Ashtons best preformances and movies but I dont agree with Costners, I would still say Dances with Wolves.....

Original ending for me. I enjoy movies where the good guy loses or dies. Makes them more realistic for me, more true to life. Theres not always a happy ending.

Original....also another underrated movie. I thought it was very good. Probably boosted the CG's recruiting too.

Original Ending. The emotion it conveys does way more for me than if he survived. I was actually very suprised how good this movie was.

Definately the original ending, it sunk home the comment earlier in the movie about having to choose who lives and dies. It stayed truer to the rest of the movie and just the tone set forth by it.
