Subtitles on Pirates Of The Caribbean ?

Are there normal english subtitles (just the spoken text) on the US Blu-Ray of Pirates 1 and 2? I can only see english SDH. Does this mean that the only english subtitles there are with all the sounds etc. transcribed? That is annoyng for people who are not that good in english but can still enjoy the movie with english subtitles turned on. I hope there are normal subtitles also and not only SDH.

It is not annoy for me, Because I am DEAF not who is not that good in english, we need it to read what it is saying in movies, because we, Deaf, would not understand what it is saying without caption. That is what it benefit me.

Anyway,
Some movies on Blu-ray offer two subtitles on English, one is regular english subtitles and another one is for SDH ( Subtitles for Deaf and Hard Hearing). All you have to find out by press subtitles on remote as you can find out if there are two english options.

I was not trying to say that it is annoyng in general, it is ofcourse a great thing for people either deaf or with hearing impairement - it would be great if ALL DVDs and Blu-Rays would contain SDH subtitles. I was just asking if there is the option of normal english subtitles on the Pirates Blu-Ray. Ob some Blu-Rays I can see in the description English, English SDH, German etc., but on some only English SDH, German etc. Does this mean that there are only english subtitles are SDH?

btw. with subtitles taking virtauly no space on the discs, its a shame that only so few languages are present in various versions of the discs. Why not stuff there every language with subtitles aviable?

Yes, it can be only english subtitles that are SDH. I do not have a copy of POTC 1 and 2.

With JAVA or BD-J, what I went through pile of old papers today, and I saw describe about able to add subtitles , According to BDA, March 2005, Spec White Paper, About BD-J:

Subtitle Updates:
The BD-J applicaiton described above can be further extended to allow the user to obtain subtitles in a language that is not supported on the disc. The Content Provuder can publish new or updated subtitle files on a website dedicated to the disc Title. The BD-J application on the disc can include the retrieval of this subtitle file and storage (in encrypted form) in the player's local storage. After storing the subtitle file, the applicaiton can be select the new subtitles for a Title. (Blu-ray Disc Association, March 2005, Page 33, White paper, *The Blu-ray Disc Format Specifications have not yet been finalized and the contents in this White Paper may be modified at the disrection of Format owners.)
