Arrow John Hillcoat's Triple Nine - HUGE CAST!!!

http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/hillcoa...must-see-2015/

Quote:
Gal Gadot (Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Fast & Furious 6) tweeted a couple photos from the set of John Hillcoat's Triple Nine (included at the bottom of this post), reminding me this is a film I think has only been mentioned once on this site and that was almost four years ago when Shia LaBeouf was circling the pic after LaBeouf worked with Hillcoat on Lawless. Now there's no LaBeouf, but the cast is stacked for this corrupt cop drama.

The film centers on a group of corrupt police officers who are blackmailed into pulling off a seemingly impossible heist. In order to orchestrate the plan a "999", code for 'officer down', must be executed and a rookie police officer is the proposed victim.

Along with Gadot, the film stars Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer, Kate Winslet, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael B. Jordan, Clifton Collins Jr., Anthony Mackie and Norman Reedus. Excited yet?

I'm also excited to see Hillcoat is working with cinematographer Nicolas Karakatsanis whose work on Michael R. Roskam's Bullhead I called "dark, raw and visceral, just right for the material and often affecting as it brings the blunt force trauma of such a masculine movie to heaving life."

Open Road is set to release the film in 2015 and I apologize for being so lazy and not mentioning it earlier.
A lot of exciting actors and actresses involved here, and the story sounds fairly tight as well.

When I see an impressive ensemble cast like that, I immediately think "they must be over-compensating for something". Maybe I'm a pessimist, but I'm still interested.

Palmer hasn't been in very good movies, but she's done very well in crappy movies (I actually liked Warm Bodies and I Am Number Four )

Aaron Paul deserves everything he got from BB, and much more.

Liked those too. Haven't watched Breaking Bad but wasn't to impressed with him in Need for Speed. Maybe a good director will be good for him.

Yeahhhhhh....

You really shouldn't judge Aaron Paul based off of NFS. Jesse Pinkman is one of the greatest performances in TV history.

Lmfao, yeah... That's like judging Bryan Cranston off of Rock of Ages.

I thought that The Proposition was really well made. Forgot about that film. I haven't seen The Road but Lawless was a bit dodgy and uneven. Strong cast (with exception of this Palmer woman) and the synopsis sounds like it could potentially exciting.

Quote:
Starring Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Norman Reedus, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Gal Gadot, Teresa Palmer and Clifton Collins, Jr., the Matt Cook-scripted story follows a group of crooked cops planning a major heist. Judging from this first red band trailer, it looks like the kind of dark Michael Mann-esque drama that we’re greatly looking forward to.
Quote:
Open Road has released the first red-band trailer for The Proposition, The Road and Lawless director John Hillcoat’s ensemble thriller Triple 9. Scripted by Matt Cook, the story centers on a group of thieves who plan to murder a cop in order to draw attention away from the heist they’ll be pulling on the other side of town. That central premise isn’t the main focus in this trailer, however, as it instead provides a tonal overview of what looks to be a very dark, very tense crime thriller with an absolutely stacked cast. Kate Winslet appears to be one of the primary antagonistic characters as Casey Affleck fills the role of the protagonist, a new-ish cop who has Woody Harrelson as his mentor.
Release Date : February 19, 2016.

This looks fantastic. I haven't seen Lawless yet, but I think The Road is a great film, and this looks like it will be just as good, if not better. Can't wait.
