Just got my copy yesterday from Amazon India( A legitimate product, mind you, not a cheap pirated copy !).
Was very disappointed to find it as a BD-25 recorded blank( with blue/black recorded side) very similar to the blank BD-25 discs I use to back up my hard disk on my Vaio laptop blu-ray burner ! This is very unlike my last eagle video blu ray, Gangs Of Wasseypur that was on a silver pressed disc with mastering SID code of IFPI LY27( ? France) in the disc inner rim. Cramming a two hour plus movie on a recorded single layer BD-25 and selling it as a legitimate official product is not what I expected from this marketing company. |

Nasha is pressed on a BD-R BDMV, whereas B.A. Pass is on a a regular BD-ROM disc. It is disappointing, to say the least, that Eagle is releasing movies on BD-R discs. (at least the picture/audio quality is not affected. So, if you just want to enjoy the film you're good.) Still, kinda takes the "pride of ownership" out of the hobby. ![]() |

I am okay if the quality is good. But the important things is at least Eagle initiated to release such kind of small budget movies on Blu-ray. May be they don't want to invest a huge amount for these small budget movies so released in this way.
If this is the strategy then they should reduce the price instead of their basic price 799/- |

At least with DVD's it is known that the life of recorded DVD's is significantly less than that of commercial pressed DVD's. Assuming a similar scenario for blu-ray, it is not fair to expect customers to pay full price for less reliable products.

The life of a recorded Blu-ray depends on the disc maker. For example, Verbatim media has supposedly been rated to last 100 years. On the other hand, a brand like Rosewill gets their media from the lower grade stock manufactured by Sony and Phillips. Some of their discs have had defects causing them to last only 5 years. But there are also reports of commercially pressed discs especially manufactured by Sony Austria undergoing decay within 6 years. That disc had been used on Sivaji and some other Hollywood films as well.

I ordered 'Golmaal 3' and 'Student Of The Year' from Amazon India couple of days back. The blu-rays arrived yesterday and I noticed 'Golmaal 3' was a recorded disk not a silver pressed one. I haven't checked 'Student Of The Year', but I wouldn't be surprised if that too is a recorded disk. |
