It will only be a celebration if they actually do something to celebrate it.

And it's The Abyss' 25th anniversary, but still no announcements. It's quite disheartening.

It seems like years now we have been waiting, I hope they say something about it at Comic Con.

What really sucks about all of this is that this is still the best way to watch True Lies and The Abyss in the United States:

It's only July. There's 6 months to go.

Heh. The best way to watch True Lies is the DVHS rip and the best way to watch the Abyss is the restored version that's playing on TV (which looks SUPERB).

Still, happy 20th to what is easily Cameron's most fun movie. He's not preaching about saving humanity from itself or any of that other tree-hugging shite, True Lies is basically a Bond movie with a twist and it's awesome.

I still have my anamorphic Region 2 DVD.

Been waiting on a proper release for over a decade now. I still remember when a Five-Star Collection DVD was announced for release in 2001 and never happened.

Whats so disheartening is the fact that both these movies are non anamorphic for DVD owners in region 1. I don't mind movies on DVD, as long as the transfer is decent (minimum 6mbps average), the audio is 5.1 and the film is presented in no less than anamorphic widescreen (and/or original aspect ratio).

Also, there is no excuse as to why certain movies have not been released on bluray at this time, or why only certain DVDs haven't been upgraded (either from full screen or from non anamorphic prior releases).

Again, I don't mind DVD viewing, but for Christ sake, if you (studios) don't want to invest or want to weed through all the legal mumbo-jumbo for bluray, at least re-release your aging titles on DVD the correct way....
