Default The Wind Will Carry Us (Abbas Kiarostami)

The Wind Will Carry Us Blu-ray PREORDER

Coming to Blu-ray (15th Anniversary Edition) on July 22. Courtesy of Cohen Media.

NEWS/TRAILER

Quote:
Palme d'Or winning-director Abbas Kiarostami's acclaimed film documents the arrival of an engineer and his colleagues from Tehran in a remote village in Iranian Kurdistan. Assumed by the locals with whom they form an ambivalent relationship to be archaeologists or telecom engineers, the visitors behaviour and keen interest in the health of an ailing old woman appear strange and their true motives are shrouded in mystery. Haunting and visually stunning, The Wind Will Carry Us is an absorbing abstract meditation on life and death and the divisions between tradition and modernity that stands among Kiarostami s best works.

This just made my day! Hope those lengthy and fantastic documentaries from the European/UK DVD ("A Week With Abbas Kiarostami" and "Lesson in Cinema with Abbas Kiarostami") will be ported over. A few new extras won't hurt either Can't wait!

Those screencaps look terrific. It's pricey, but I'm going to blind buy this. More Kiarostami is always a great thing.

Is this likely to be region free?

It's already confirmed by the DVDbeaver review that it's not.

DVDbeaver is often wrong for some reason, saying a disc is locked when in fact it's not.

I guess you could be right. I just noticed that they listed another Cohen release, Hail Mary as region A locked, but a user from this forum stated that it played on his region B player:

We should wait for a proper confirmation then.

Barnes and Noble currently has this for 24.19 online, nearly ten dollars cheaper than amazon or bestbuy.com

I never trust DVD Beaver. There are a number of films that are region free that they state are region locked.

However, all the films I have purchased that they state are region free have been.

That was me. I have a number of Cohen films on Blu Ray and all of them have played fine on my region B locked player.

I took chances and they paid off, but you never know when something from them will turn out to be region locked.

There was a time when most of the films that Olive released were region free. They have now been locked to Region A from around the release of Penny Serenade on.

I find this the most trustworthy site in relation to region locked/region free discs.

Though there is one title that is incorrect and that is The Invisible Woman.

I purchased the Blu Ray from Amazon because it stated region free. After it was dispatched to me I noticed that someone had stated that it was locked Region A. When I got the Blu Ray it played in 3 different region B locked players. Whilst I cannot verify region C. The Invisible Woman is most definitely region B friendly, despite what this site states.

Unfortunately the review here doesn't tell us about the region compatibility. I hope someone checks it and let us know when they receive their disc.

I have a couple of Cohen's region free discs, but don't want to risk it - have a feeling it can go either way with this one.

To those who were wondering if this was region free, I am sorry to inform you that it would not play on my region B PS4.

Thanks a bummer. I hope this doesn't become a trend with Cohen Media, however obtaining the rights to certain titles can sometimes include a Region locking clause.
