Default Planet of the Apes: Legacy Collection

I didn't see a thread for this nor any reviews is there anything missing as far as extras from the previous released 2011 box set?

It's the same content repackaged, which is why it didn't really need a new thread.

The cover for this repack is especially awful. I picked up the old 2011 set for 17.99 @ Best Buy ( it was right next to a display of the new Legacy version @ 19.99).

Can't find much info on the 2014 set . There also new blu stand alone with a strange cover of the 68 film . I have the 2011 set , Takes up a lot of room . I like this new set with 5 blu's in one case . are there any differences ? why did they release the 68 by its self with a cover that i think is from the wrong movie . is it restored ? is the extended beneath in the new legacy set?

No, just a new cover. It's based on the original theatrical poster.

I don't think there is an extended cut of Beneath. The Blu-rays do include the extended cuts of Conquest and Battle, though.

My fault , so it's 100% the same box as the 2011 , Just smaller package ? That's cool. I want to sell my unopened box(not the book edition)from 2011 .

Just wanted to point out that this set is $15 at Wal-Mart right now. Mine had a bunch in stock too.

I just got this set and am disappointed to find the 4 sequels are taken from the same transfers as the dvds. Is it at all possible they all played cinemas without a Fox fanfare at the head of the film? I don't think so.

It may be a minor thing, but it does dent the theatrical experience a little for me.

I don't know for sure, but it's totally possible. IMDB lists in its "Crazy Credits" section for each of the sequels that the Fox logo doesn't appear.

20th Century Fox just distributed them. They were APJAC Productions and Fox didn’t acquire the rights until after Arthur P. Jacobs died, which made the 1974 TV series the first 20th Century Fox Planet of the Apes production.

I got my "Patton" blu ray and noticed the same, no fanfare before the film. Also my "Seven Ups" blu. Maybe a 70s thing.

Yeah, in the early 70's Twentieth Century Fox didn't use the opening fanfare for a lot of their films. Two more examples: The Poseidon Adventure ('72) and The Towering Inferno ('74).

I think Star Wars popularized the 20th Century Fox Fanfare being used more widely.

No Blu-ray version I know of retains the two-disc DVD version extras from the Burton remake.

This is why I Frankenstein'ed my own combo pack with the Blu and DVD. I can't see Disney ever reissuing this on 4K with the extras.
