Default Something similar to Terminator?

Hey guys, I was just re-watching the episode 'Self-Made Man' from 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles' and I can't get enough of it. For those that haven't seen it, a Terminator is sent back in time like in the movies, but this time the Terminator is sent back to the 1920's and so he has to survive for decades before he can complete his mission.

Are there any movies similar to this that people can recommend?

Thanks!

For the time-travelling angle, there are certain episodes of Star Trek (original or TNG) that kinda cover this same ground (especially that episode where Data's head wound up back in time and was dug up in the future).

I felt the recent film X-Men: Days of Future Past was very Terminator-esque. It also has an apocalyptic future and time travel involved (I'd even say that Trask is just like Miles Dyson).

"Legion"

It's almost an exact copy of the first Terminator only with Angels. Now it wasn't the best movie but I thought it was entertaining.

In it's barest form, Looper is like an inverse Terminator, in which the protagonist has to kill an older version of himself.

Some episodes of Torchwood deal with Time Travel as well as a few Doctor Who Episodes, Doctor Who's A Christmas Carol comes to mind. They generally deal with "butterfly effect" sort of things rather than straight up murder.

Wow, I just saw the trailer!

From your description I imagined it'd be robots(terminators) vs angels!

I thought the same thing about DOFP after I saw it. If you like at it from a certain perspective, it ends up looking like the best Terminator film since the 2nd one.

Cyber Tracker, guys! But seriously, this is one of the first DVDs I ever owned and I think I gave up halfway through.

Oh, and there's always the unofficial sequel (written by the man responsible for everybody's favourite film ever, Troll 2).

Maybe

THE ONE=A cop must fight his evil double from a parallel universe in order to save himself and the world.

HIGHLANDER=During a fierce sword battle in the 1500s, Connor MacLeod, a simple Scotsman known as a poor fighter, is mortally wounded -- but he does not die. MacLeod learns from the mysterious Ramírez that he is of a race of immortals. These rare knights never age and never reproduce, they can only meet death by the blade of another of their kind. Leaping back and forth through the centuries, MacLeod once again meets the evil Kurgan who nearly killed him 500 years ago.

NEMESIS=Los angeles, 2027. Japan and America have merged, politically and economically. Man and machines have merged as well. But mankind is threatened when the Cyborgs decide they are better suited to rule the planet than humans. When police officer Alex Rain discovers the plot to replace world leaders with Cyborg clones, he embarks on a full-scale war to stop them.
TRAILER=http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/nemesis/trailer/

WESTWORLD=An amusement park for rich vacationers, the park provides its customers a way to live out their fantasies through the use of robots that provide anything they want. Two of the vacationers choose a wild west adventure. However, after a computer breakdown, they find that they are now being stalked by a rogue robot gun-slinger.

12 MONKEYS=The year is 2035, and humanity subsists in a desolate netherworld after the eradication of 99 percent of the Earth's population, a holocaust which left the planet's surface uninhabitable, and the destiny of humanity uncertain. A desperate group of scientists secure a reluctant volunteer, Cole, for a dangerous assignment: he will time travel to the year 1996, where they hope he can help unravel the mystery of the apocalypse and save the future.

TIMECOP=Based on a comic book story, this futuristic film follows the time-travel exploits of policeman Max Walker (Claude Van Damme). In 1994, Walker's wife Melissa (Mia Sara) is about to tell him that she is expecting their first child when they are attacked by a group of criminals. Walker is shot and beaten and lies helplessly on his lawn while he sees their home and his wife blown up by the killers. Ten years later, Walker remains an employee of the Time Enforcement Commission, a federal agency which was set up in 1994 after the U.S. government learned that time travel technology is feasible. The commission's role is to prevent time travel to protect U.S. economic interests. Walker learns that the corrupt Senator McComb (Ron Silver), who helped establish the agency, is exploiting it for personal gain, trying to establish a monopoly on time travel so that he can enrich himself in the stock market.

OBLIVION=Set on a future Earth, civilization lives above the clouds and scavengers collect ancient artifacts from the polluted surface below. An earthbound soldier, who is stuck there repairing drones that patrol and blast a savage alien life form, encounters a beautiful woman who crashed in a craft and they have an experience that forces him to question his world view.

TIMECOP 2=Twenty years after the of events of the first film, the TEC (Time Enforcement Commission), the agency that makes sure that no one travels into the past without permission and changes history, is still going strong. Brandon Miller a TEC operative, believes that they have a responsibility to change history hoping that the world will be better but Ryan Chan, another TEC operative, stops him. Two years later Miller escapes from prison and sets out to eliminate all TEC operatives by killing their ancestors. Eventually Ryan is the only one left and has to stop Miller before he gets him.

BILL AND TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE=Keanu Reeves (The Matrix) and Alex Winter (The Lost Boys) deliver "spirited performances" (The Hollywood Reporter) in the original righteous comedy about the two ditzy dudes from San Dimas, California. Also starring George Carlin, this hysterically funny historical comedy is a "snappily directed" (Time), "bouncy good time" (The Boston Globe) and a party that goes on and on! Bill (Winter) and Ted (Reeves) have spent so much time forming their rock band, The Wyld Stallyns, that they're flunking history. Whoa, duuuude! And when Ted's dad threatens to send him away to military school, Bill and Ted realize it could mean the most heinous end of The Stallyns! Luckily, a guardian angel from the future, Rufus (Carlin), has come to them with a most bodacious solution: a time-traversing phone booth to take them into the past to learn about the world from some of history's most influential personalities.

So what is it you're looking for? Robots or time travel? If it's both then you aren't going to find much besides intentional cheap knock offs since the Terminator films already exist.
