Default Water Damage and the DS3

So tonight I walked back to my computer desk and I forgot I put my glass of water on the ground and accidentally kicked it. My DS3 controller got mildly wet, like not soaked, but there was more than a few drops of water on it. Now its not working. I'm gonna try it out tomorrow, but I fear its dead. Anyone else have any experience with these things and water damage? It wasn't that much water, I'm surprised it did it in.

Take it apart. Dab it dry then air dry. With any luck, it should work again.

dont attempt to use it again. Open it up and let it dry for a few days or you can use a hair dryer or fan or something to try and speed it up. I dont know if the battery is easily removable, but remove the battery.

You shouldnt' have attempted to use it in the first place.

Standard procedures whenever any electronic device gets wet.

this happened to me like 2 days ago with my new bluetooh head set ... I was getting the water ready for a bath for my daughter and I slung my head around and the damn thing flew off and went in the tub ... it was submerged bad too lol ... I pulled it out and shook it and blew on it etc... it was still on ...

It worked for anyone to hear me but I could hear them for s&*t

I was mad.. next day ... works fine again ... althuogh I think they are a lil hard to hear still .. but they are much louder .. dont know if it was one dudes mic or my ear piece.

If I can submerge a cellphone in a toilet, then wash it with water and then air dry it under a desk lamp and have it work - you should be able to get your DS3 to survive a splash of water. Not to say it won't shorten the battery life or overall controller life, but it'll still work for awhile.

if you dont wanna take the controller apart you can always put it in a zip-lock bag with rice. the rice will draw the moisture out. i think it takes a few days though. this trick works with all electronics.

I had about 30 gallons of water spill out of our ceiling directly on top of my HT gear when a line broke. 64" RPTV, cable receiver, Paradigm speakers, DVD player, etc. I let everything sit unplugged for several days, and have not had a single issue with anything - that was over 5 years ago.

I even have a scar to show for it where I grabbed the bottom of my Monitor 7 with water pouring on my head - forgot there was a 1" spike in the bottom of the speaker and ended up with a real nice rip in my finger nearly down to the bone...

I hadn't heard about the rice trick - I could have tried that with my TV.

smart thinking with the rice, those poor birds at weddings...

dextrose anhydrous would work really well too, cause we all have that lying around our houses

I assume that any kind of rice works (I don't have any problem yet, but just to know for the future)? It doesn't matter what kind of grain it is or whether it's brown rice does it? (and you're talking about uncooked rice right?)
