This is my wife's favorite version. (Not Mr. Magoo, Mickey, or Muppets? I know)

Of course I broke down and bought the DVD last year.

Oh well, happy to upgrade. Hope the transfer is good and there are worthwhile special features.

The Alistair Sim version is my very favorite. This one is pretty good though.

There are some very good versions of ACC out there including the 2010, 3D animated Disney version.

Probably an unpopular opinion but the made-for-TV version with Patrick Stewart is by far my favorite edition. Might still pick this up though.

I think so too. This one is the second best.

I also find this one the most disturbing, as Scrooge really doesn't do anything bad, yet he gets treated to a terrifying night of sleep deprivation, threats, and psychological torture for no reason.

Although i think that some part of it is because it's the one I saw first!

This one would be much better if Barrymore had been able to be in it. And a few other tweaks to get it a little less saccharine. Some of it works well, the sets and design are pretty good. It's just Owen isn't very good in the role, IMO.

It's not my favorite version, but Scott is definitely my favorite Scrooge - he's absolutely remarkable in the role, actually making what is too often a stereotyped and blustering role into a truly credible human being.
