Default The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears

Coming from Strand Releasing on December 9th.

Helene Cattet and Bruno Forzani's previous project, Amer, is already out on Blu-ray, courtesy of Olive Films.

Quote:
From directing duo Hélène Cattet & Bruno Forzani (AMER), comes this homage to the masters of classic Italian Giallo horror. Dan returns home to find his wife is missing. With no signs of struggle or break-in and with no help from the police, Dan's search for answers leads him down a psychosexual rabbit hole. THE STRANGE COLOR OF YOUR BODY'S TEARS is a bloody and taut fantasia of suspense that leaves the viewer entranced in this highly original erotic thriller.

Let's hope we get lossless audio on this release from Strand.

It will most definitely be a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track!

Saw this in theaters the other day. There are some moments of incredible filmmaking technique, and the whole thing is visually stunning, but ultimately I was unable to follow it and found myself restless, waiting for it to end.

Hadn't heard of this at all. Trailer looks interesting, and this sounds like it might be right in my wheelhouse. I'll definitely have to check it out.

Thanks.

I have not heard much about this, but I will buy this, without a doubt.

Amer is one of the best films of the century, in my opinion. So simple, yet effective.

I guess the best way to describe what to prepare yourself for is that the trailer is a great representation of the movie -- the cutting of the last half of the trailer, basically images and more images, with little talking, is literally what it's like watching almost every one of the movie's 105+ minutes. The movie takes no rest from that kind of style and pace and tone.

Cool, thanks. That sounds good. This may very well be a blind buy for me.

Does anyone know what's going on with the Amazon pre-order for this movie? It seems to have been taken down

It's still up on Target and Barnes & Noble, so hopefully it's just a temporary thing. Target has a really good price too - if I wasn't getting it for Christmas, I'd probably go with them anyways.

I got around to watching this a while ago and the caveats previously expressed are entirely on the money. This is visually interesting in small gobs but I defy anyone to sit through it in a single sitting. It's more like an art gallery video installation than a film.

Someone (not me) at the site I write for had the Blu-ray for review, so it's not delayed or canceled as far as I know.

This movie is a tour de force for your senses. It's not an easy watch and not very enganging. Yet, it has a very hypnotic effect on the viewer. Visually it's stunning, just breathtaking. The music is great. But the real star of the movie is the sound design. It is incredible in this film. You have to watch it more than once to fully appreciate it.

The disc is region free btw. And it comes with an alternate cover (uncensored, you see the woman's breast now). If you liked Amer, and Giallo films in general, I'd highly recommend this film.

Check your orders people - what was initially the Blu-ray listing was turned into the DVD listing once the preorder was put back up. So, because I preordered early, not only did I get the DVD shipped to me, I was charged the higher DVD price ($25 instead of $18)! Brilliant all around.

Anyone else think that
[Show spoiler]Dan and the Detective are the same person? When Dan is staring at us while standing in his living room, there is a quick flash of the Detective. It doesn't appear next to Dan but it replaces Dan! This is very similar to the quick flashes of Tyler Durden in Fight Club. Also, Dan dies because someone stabs him in the head with a knife (while he is in Laura's room). When the Detective enters Laura's room, Dan is alive again and the Detective kills him. He shoots him in the head, yet his wound look like a stab wound (and also like a vagina!). Then the Detective gets killed. Someone stabs him in the head with a knife (he is still in Laura's room).
I'd love to hear what other people think about this theory. Also, I have no clue who the actual killer is.
