Does anyone know the release date on the new Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray player, if so would it be worth replacing Sony BDP-S300 with it?

It's looking like August.
A few of them just might sneak in about late July.
I'm hoping the wait won't go into September when the CEDIA Expo starts Sept. 3.

Yep I am playing the waiting game also, but probaly ending a July early August we should start seeing them.

I'm waiting for this as well. Been roaming the forum for a while now, just traded-in a few dvds at Blockbuster for Casino Royale on Blu....but I have no player! Come on Sony get the 350 out a.s.a.p. so I can finally watch my movies in glorious 1080p.

I have the Panny BD50 on pre-order, but will get the Sony S550 if it comes out first!

I talked to Sony and they said it will be released on July 14. I think the 350 will be a great player.

If this is true, then I'll be very happy. Though I just don't see it happening, think they would of announced the release date if they were planning on releasing it w/ under a month to go. Could be wrong though....I hope.

I think it would be.

As long as you have an HDMI v1.3 Receiver that can decode, you will have access to all the audio codecs. And it has Bonus View 1.1 profile (if that even matters to you).

Should be in stores in less then 30 days. The Panasonic BD50 will be out before the Sony 550.

Sony already announced a release date @ CES Summer '08 (they may have said July/August can't remember). It has not been delayed so they have no need to update what they already said.

Gaming hardware and most content (movies, music and games) have hard release dates, for the most CE does not it just shows up on store shelves. They normally use ad embargo dates, meaning you can not put in ad before this date or week.

Just checked and the only Sony Blu-Ray players they show are the 300 and 500 both OOS

I think I will buy the 350. I now have the Denon 3808 receiver so I can bitstream the new sound formats. I have the 60gb PS3 which is not made anymore which plays my PS2 games, so that would mean much less wear on the PS3 to play blu-rays on a stand-alone. This looks to be a good player :-), I am excited to see one in action.

Unless a last minute problem creeps up... the S350 is still due mid-July... and the S550 is still due early to mid August.

Circuitcity.com is showing 07/08/2008 for the release date. Hope they're right!

Abt.com is doing pre-orders with shipping by July 15th for $379.05 and free shipping. Use the coupon code SAVEJULY4 for the discount. Don't know for sure how long the discount will last. I would assume only through the holiday weekend.

I called them up last week when I got the new catalog and they had both listed inside unfortunatley they don't have them as yet, the rep said they expected them in but didn't get them in he did say that by mid July they should get them.
