Default Ever double-dip a purchase....by accident?

You know you may have too many movies and/or music for this...

Have you ever bought something, thinking it was what you wanted, and at the good price. Then later, as you're going through your other things, you find out you already purchased it?

This has happened to me with some albums and movies. I buy them second-hand stores for great prices. Then later as I take inventory I find out I already had a copy of it that I bought a long time ago.

How about u?

It happened to me once with a book, where I ended up with two copies of the same book. But never music or movies.

I have a pretty good memory of what I have and don't have, so it doesn't happen very often. But recently, I stopped by an f.y.e. and was browsing the Blu-rays, and I bought The Mummy (1999). When I got home and went to put it on my shelf, I saw the Walmart exclusive Steelbook copy I bought last year. I was like "Wha--oh, damn it." I don't know how that happened, because like I said I tend to always know what I've already bought. Fortunately, I hadn't opened the second one yet, so I returned it a couple days later.

I keep the Blu-ray.com app on my phone to make sure I never do this, if I am unsure, I can quickly check my collection.

Wow to have a collection so big that you end up buying the stuff twice... you guys are nutters! I try and watch everything I have in my collection, I couldn't imagine dusting off something I bought a year ago and never even opened.

Did that once with a BD because I checked my Blu-ray.com master list, also have them written down in a paper book list and it wasn't listed.I bought it only to find out I already had it.No idea how it didn't get entered the first time. It's a "mystery"

I have done this at least 10 times. I don't have anything to keep track of everything I own. If I see something for a great price I end up buying it.

I hate it when you're at a store, you try to use your phone to see if you have the movie, and that store has bad data reception.

Thankfully no. Although once I was at the store and didn't buy a movie because I wasn't sure if I owned it or not already. And my brother keeps buying me Christmas/birthday presents that I already have!

Of all the hundreds of Blu-rays, DVDs, CD's and video games that I own, I have never accidentally double-dipped on them. Whenever I am in doubt, I prefer not buying. I go home and look through my collection just to make sure and so far so good. I don't own the same copy of anything.

I pre-ordered Nebraska on blu from Amazon about 2 months before it came out and completely forgot about it, then I ordered it for $9.99 from Frys recently. I thought I had cancelled the Amazon order, but they ended up shipping it, although it never showed up I emailed them about it to get my $ back and it ended up coming on my door step about 10 days later. Real goofy, soo now I own 2 copies of Nebraska haha.

it has happened once, I ordered it on-line (amazon.com) and then forgot it was part of the order (I never buy just one film) and a couple of days later saw it for a good price at local store and bought it just to receive the package and see it in there as well.

It's only happened to me once with one of those many special limited edition Army of Darkness DVDs. Back in the days where DVD bargains were everywhere on the internet, I saw it at a great price and bought it, completely forgetting that I had already gotten it.

I've never double-dipped by accident, although I own roughly a thousand CDs, and several hundred Blu-rays and DVDs. I have a steel trap memory of everything that I purchase, and I can remember exactly when and where I purchases all of the cassette tapes, VHS tapes, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, and even books that I have bought over the decades since I was a teenager back in the 1980s.

A few times. On VHS, HD-DVD, DVD and the odd BD. Never with LD though

I accidentally bought a polo a couple months back that I already owned. Fortunately I realized it before I took the tags off and the site had free returns so I was able to return it for a full refund.

No, never happened to me. My collection is not that large, so it's easy for me to recall what movies I already have, especially since I watched everything. I don't like buying things and then not watching them.
