For me Psycho is one of those movies that I already knew the ending long before I actually saw the movie.

...it's so much a part of popular culture.

Guess I was lucky enough to evade all spoilers for movies back in my childhood. I didn't even know the ending to The Exorcist until I watched it for the first time at age 13! Scarface too.

Yeah I think everyone knew the false protagonist dies before they ever see it.

Paris Hilton dying in
[Show spoiler]House of Wax
was so awesome, maybe even more awesome than Janet Leigh's screen death. It's such a shocking YESSSssssssSSS! moment.

Many twists are quite well known by the culture at large.

Kevin Holly's got it: became aware of the basic info that Spacey's the bad guy in high school. Didn't see the film until after college.

Jeez, that one I learned reading an issue of Entertainment Weekly when I was about 11, then saw the movie for a college course.

Recognizing Jaye Davidson from Stargate also helped, but I don't blame the movie for that.

Psycho, Sixth Sense, Planet of the Apes -- all great, jaw-dropping reveals.

Chinatown - yep that probably nails it.

Memento certainly makes you think too.

It does not matter if you like the film as a whole or not.

For me there is no contest. Apocalypto.

(I guessed what was going on about halfway though in The Sixth Sense.)
what was the twist in Apocalypto?

can someone answer this for me?

please use spoilers.

( i saw the movie and i dont see any twist)

[Show spoiler]The appearance of white people from the ship. The natives had clealrly never seen them before and they must have been the first "white Gods" landing in that part of the continent. As history knows, arrival of the White Man changed everything as far as the future of the entire Native American race forever and their internal rivalries, violent as they were, were reduced to petty squabbles by comparison. For me, the title Apocalypto took on an entirely different meaning at the end.
