Default Resident Evil Revelations 2

Looks like we are getting two RE games in 2015. No details except it wont revolve around Chris and Jill. Will be released on PS3, 360, X1 and PC as well

Seems like this will take place on an island this time. I like the sound of that. This seems to be going back to the original RE games more than the main entries are.

Agree, if they wanted a PS4/X1 port they would have waited.

I'm fine with RE: Revelations 2 and the HD remake until they finally announce RE7.

Default Resident Evil Revelations 2 - An older Claire Redfield returns

Quote:
Barry Burton’s daughter is star of Resident Evil Revelations 2
Resident Evil Revelations 2 – Claire returns, but the 3DS doesn’t
The new Resident Evil will feature Claire Redfield, full campaign co-op, and more survival horror – but no 3DS version.

Despite the first game starting out as an exclusive it looks like Resident Evil Revelations 2 really isn’t coming to the 3DS at all, with the first preview in GamesMaster magazine confirming the sequel only for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

According to website PushStartPlay, the mag reveals that the game will star Claire Redfield, who hasn’t been in a mainline game since 2000’s CODE: Veronica, and new character Moira Burton – who’s the daughter of Resident Evil 1’s Barry Burton.

Claire is described as a ‘seasoned veteran’, with the game taking the Resident Evil 6 approach of continuing the original series storyline and having all the characters age appropriately.

The whole of Revealtions 2’s story campaign will also be playable with a co-op partner, which doesn’t sound like Capcom is trying to distance itself from Resident Evil 6 as much as fans might have liked.

The two characters aren’t equals though, and the idea is that Claire is focused on combat and Moira’s job is to heal her, use a torch, and provide ‘general support’. In fact you’ll only actually get a Game Over message if Claire dies, not Moira.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 - is that an Afflicted there, that doesn't like the light?
Resident Evil Revelations 2 – is that an Afflicted there, that doesn’t like the light?
As the previously leaked artwork suggests the game is set in an abandoned prison, and will take place between Resident Evil 5 and 6.

According to producer Michiteru Okabe Revelations 2 is not Resident Evil 6.5 though, and there will be a greater focus on survival horror than the last few games. Although he only seems to compare the atmosphere to the first Revelations, not the original games.

‘I want this to be both a game that doesn’t lose what made its predecessor great, while also bringing something new and exciting to the Resident Evil series,’ he says. ‘Achieving that lofty goal by bringing together past and future will make this an itchy-tasty prospect indeed.’

This seems to be reference to a new ‘Afflicted’ enemy type (perhaps the creature in the screenshot below) which, ‘may look like zombies, but are in fact something quite different’.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 will run at 1080p and 60 frames per second on the PC and next gen platforms. As confirmed by Capcom, during the game’s official reveal, it will be out early next year.

Must say i'm definitely excited for both this and the HD updated control scheme version of the RE-make. Be nice if they did a proper remake of Resi 2, though.

Have they mentioned whether this will be a full blown AAA RE, or is this something smaller because it's considered a spin off?

what does that even mean? Its not a handheld title so you can expect it to be bigger than the original.

It means Revelations was a lot smaller in scope than 5 or 6, mainly because development was limited to what the 3DS could pull off. Just because it's coming out on PS4/Xbone doesn't mean it couldn't get a smaller budget than the last few outings. Revelations was by no means a great seller (although the HD versions did ok).

Also, based on the fact that they aren't numbering the game in the series' timeline, makes me think they are handling it like a smaller spin off title as opposed to coming out and announcing it as RE7.

Not to mention there's been more than a whisper or two that Capcom is busy with SF5 and RE7 anyway, so they may not have the resources (time, money, or staff) to pull off a 3rd major title.

Since they are treating this like a return to survival horror for RE, I hope they treat it as a main AAA title.

Does seem like they are busy on RE7 so that could be taking a higher priority than this.

It amazes me how people continue to be excited over Resident Evil considering how much Capcom has shit the bed with this franchise. I know there's a lot of gamers who have a certainl level of sentimental feeling towards it because they played it when they were young. It's just that I feel like the genre has sort of out grown RE and RE doesn't really add anything new to it anymore (Kind of like Gran Turismo and the racing genre). To me, games like Alien Isolation, Until Dawn, The Evil Within, The new Silent Hills, etc look way more interesting.

Why must they keep changing the enemies? Just give us zombies. Fast or slow, I don't care. Most of these variations have offered nothing new.

I'm excited for this. The first was a classic return to form.

Code Veronica didnt get a number in its title and it was just as big if not bigger than the games that came before it. RE6 with all its budget wasnt exactly a great game. I dont care how much money a game has thrown at it; just give me something enjoyable. I dont think one has to be concerned that this will be as limited as the 3DS. From the story description, its confined to one locale, so it wont be as expansive as 6, but that doesnt mean its set to be some low budget knock off

This has excitement because it should be a return to form for RE. Something RE5 and RE6 missed out on.

RE: Revelations was a good game and did a lot right but this should be so much better.

Actually don't get you hopes up too high, it doesn't look like they're straying too far off their current co-op formula. The game will once again be co-op based, but can be played alone (just like 5 & 6 with an AI partner). I'd love this to be awesome but the more info that's released the more it seems to be a "B" team effort from Capcom and playing it safe, not making too many changes to their dying formula.

But even if it is, so what? I guess that's my point. We've all been down this road before. Why do people want to keep going back down it when the franchise has already been surpassed by so many other games in that genre? I can't even get excited about the HD version of the original. What's the point? Does anyone really care that much about those stiff, clunky controlls and and listening to that god awful dialogue? I mean yeah it was cool back in 1996 but now almost 20 years later? Let's move on.

they are updating the controls. It isnt going to simply be based on the PS1 original. Theres an option for a new control scheme. And yes people care, hence why you are asking this question

What other true survival horror games can you name besides a few Silent Hills, Evil Within, and the 1st Dead Space game? The genre doesn't have much and when RE tries to go back to its roots it's something to get happy about whether they succeed or not has yet to be seen.

Plus for me I've only played RE4 and RE6 so I haven't really gotten a filling for RE yet.

I can say I am more excited about Silent Hills and Evil Within though than I am for RE: R2.
