Default 'Terminator 6'

'Terminator: Genesis' Casting Shocker; Sequels to Be Filmed Back-to-Back!

Attack the Block‘s John Boyega is no longer in the running for the lead in Terminator: Genesis, the franchise reboot for Skydance Productions and Paramount Pictures, instead Dayo Okeniyi has been set to star, explains Deadline.

The studio have made first plans to shoot three installments to put this saga to rest. The second and third films will be done back to back over nine months! The first film gets underway shortly in Louisiana.

Okeniyi, who co-starred in The Hunger Games and The Spectacular Now, will the son of Miles Dyson.

Doctor Miles Bennett Dyson (Joe Morton) was a major player in James Cameron’s 1991 Terminator 2: Judgment Day. He was the inventor of the neural-net processor which would lead to the development of Skynet, a computer A.I. intended to control electronically linked weapons and defend the United States, but which would later seize control of the world and launch a global war of extermination against humanity. – Terminator Wiki.

John Connor and his Terminator intercept Sarah Connor’s attempts to assassinate him, leading to a massive shootout and the eventual death of Dyson. As you may recall, he did have a kid, playing with a remote control car, who must have a integral role in Genesis.

The other leads were already set. “Game Of Thrones‘” Emilia Clarke is Sara Connor, Zero Dark Thirty’s Jason Clarke is her son John Connor, Jai Courtney is locked as Kyle Reese, and Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises his signature cyborg, in the time-travel saga that will be directed by Alan Taylor. The film has a July 1, 2015 released date.

So that's how they'll do a trilogy before Cameron gets the rights back. Hope they have scripts rearing and ready to go...

That may be so, but he regains the rights in 2019, from what I understand. So if they want to finish this series their way, they need to do it before Cameron gets the rights back and the series is put to bed by him forever.

I don't understand why they need to go back. We already know how they were made and how they took over.

We need sequels not prequels. Everyone want's to see the War and then see Kyle get sent back in time.

Default Terminator 2 - May 19, 2017

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...source=twitter

Paramount Pictures is pushing ahead with the second and third installments in its rebooted Terminator franchise, which kicks off next summer with Terminator: Genisys on July 1.

Terminator 2 has been dated for May 19, 2017, followed by Terminator 3 on June 29, 2018.

Paramount is partnering with Skydance Productions on the trilogy.

More to come.

Paramount Sets Dates for Two More ‘Terminator’ Sequels

We’ve seen almost nothing official from Terminator: Genisys at this point, but the new Terminator movie has two more siblings set to debut in 2017 and 2018. Paramount Pictures just set dates for two more Terminator sequels, inking a plan to put killer robots into theaters during three of the next four years.

Terminator: Genisys, which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Dayo Okeniyi, Matt Smith, Byung-hun Lee and J. K. Simmons, is set to open on July 1, 2015. Alan Taylor is directing from a script by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.

Now Paramount has set additional Terminator films for May 19, 2017, and June 29, 2018. Deadline reports that Paramount is calling the films Terminator 2 and Terminator 3, but those probably won’t be the actual titles. (They’ve been used!) But the new films are expected to comprise a not-quite-standalone trilogy.

As for competition on those dates, nothing else is set on the 2017 spot, though it is two weeks after one of Marvel’s currently-untitled films, and a week before The Lego Movie 2. The third film also arrives within a week of a Marvel movie.

In non-Terminator scheduling news, Paramount also set the Mark Wahlberg remake The Gambler for an Oscar-qualifying run with a limited release on December 19 before a January 1 expansion. Jessica Lange also stars in the film directed by Rupert Wyatt, and scripted by William Monahan.

If Cameron gets the rights back, that's the end of this franchise...permanently.

That's why Paramount is trying so hard to finish, before the rights revert back to him. Give the series proper closure.

Why announce part 6 when part 5 has a great chance of bombing?

Studios are hard to please, hopefully this means they like what they see so far, and have no issues with funding parts two and three.

Then again, TASM 2.

I really hope they don't call the next couple of films after Genesis 'Terminator 2' and 'Terminator 3'.

This series has become a joke. The running gag: sequels ignoring sequels.

Well, I got (pretty much) the same story from THR site & it notes they'll go for 2 & 3 "IF" "Genisys" works ($$$$), so, we'll see I guess...

Ok that makes sense. I know that the sequels would not be called Terminator 2 and 3. They will just have titles like Genisys.

Obviously, they're going to be Terminator: Genysis 2 and Terminator: Genysis 3.

If they were smart, they could call the next ones Terminator: Synthesis and Terminator: Endogenesis or something to keep it all uniform. I think it'd be neat.
