Hi!
Was just wondering if anyone has picked up the UK releases of Hands of the Ripper/Twins of Evil/Countess Dracula? Do they have a slipcase or reversible artwork? Any difference in the extras from the US releases? Thanks a ton! Last edited by BigNickUK; 07-10-2017 at 01:24 PM. |

They're each packaged in Network's trademark thin cases (if you've bought one of their DVDs released in the last year or two you'll know what I mean), so no slipcovers. No proper reverse artwork, but the flipsides do have collections of alternate poster designs (like Scream Factory's double features).
Save for the odd trailer and image gallery, the extras look mostly different from (and probably inferior to) their US Synapse counterparts. But Network have included booklets! Can't really comment on picture quality (looked fine when I briefly checked to see if the discs were ok), but the case specs state they're on BD-25s. Synapse used BD-50s, so there could be some differences. Aaaaand audio on all three is simply listed as 'Mono'. |

Sounds good enough for their price (10.25 on amazon), so will pick them up. Hands of the Ripper & Twins of Evil are two of my fav. hammers
![]() Ohh btw, do they have subs? |

http://networkonair.com They also do free shipping in the UK, provided you are not buying heavy boxsets, or loads in same order. Think they charge on any package over 500g. |

The Synapse and Network COUNTESS DRACULA discs look very similar, although both have unique extras (the UK disc has an episode of THRILLER and an episode of CONCEPTIONS OF MURDER, alongside some interviews and a commentary that don't appear on the Synapse Blu-ray). I haven't had chance to watch the HANDS OF THE RIPPER disc yet. |

IMHO, the Network Countess Dracula wins for it's superb extras package. Hands of the Ripper is more even with a very different but equally nice extras package. Twins of Evil is the one that's a bit light on extras with the UK edition. Bigger fans are probably going to want both editions of Hands of the Ripper.
They easily win on price though and are sourced from the same HD masters as the Synapse, perhaps with a little tweaking. EDITED TO ADD Don't forget the booklets, exclusive to the UK releases. Last edited by oddbox83; 09-13-2014 at 02:09 PM. |

Having not watched the Network disc yet, I didn't realise that was the case. That is good news!

Was thinking of picking up Twins of Evil but there are at least four releases out there; UK, US, Italy, and Germany. Does anyone know what the differences (if any) there are in video quality? There are reports of some flicker around the 5 minute mark on the Italian version. Is this just inherent to that particular release? I must say I do like the Italian cover art the best, that poster is great! So I would be inclined to grab that one all else being equal. I know the US version has more bonus material though. Any issues with the Network disc?

Well twins do come in pairs as a rule and are often hard to tell apart.
If you expect a serious answer be a little more exact instead of expecting others to do all the work. I presume you mean the Hammer film? There are more than 2 editions worldwide, regardless. |
