nothing has been announced yet for either. Supposedly, the matrix will come out along side the release of speed racer. Godfather is still up in the air since paramount has made no announcement yet. I suspect Sept is a good time for godfather release

A few interesting titles listed here in addition to Matrix and GF, like O Brother Where Art Thou?, and the rumored Kingpin/Dodgeball/Super Troopes releases. I'm intrigued to see how reliable this is...

Well, the Godfather DVD is scheduled for September 23rd (according to the American Zoetrope site) but they mentioned no Blu-ray release there.

Weird. Went to the American Zoetrope site, clicked the link for "The Godfather DVD Official site," and there's an error---an extra "http://" at the beginning of the address: "http://http://www.godfatherdvdcollection.com/home1.html". So I removed the extra "http://" and the link redirected to the site for the 50 Cent movie "Get Rich or Die Tryin'"...eww...

Excellent. Bill's sources are usually good on this kind of stuff. If BOTH industry and retail sources are chirping about this, I would say it's pretty much a done deal.

It's kind of bittersweet though, as I assume this means Paramount will not be releasing Indiana Jones 1-3 this Fall (I seriously doubt they'd "blow" two of their major trilogies in their catalog within a span of two months). With George Lucas potentially calling the shots, god knows how long we'll have to wait now for Indy on Blu-Ray.

September is shaping up nicely though. Transformers on 9/2/08 (not my cup f tea, but I know it's a big, anticipated Blu release), Kill Bill 1 & 2 on 9/9/08, and now The Godfather on 9/23/08.

Hasn't it already been confirmed that The Matrix will be day and date with Speed Racer, which thanks to it bombing, should be out by the end of August?

I still have the slightest trepidation about the GF trilogy hitting this year, but all signs point to it happening. I am just shocked that Para is releasing this gem before ANY of the other classic trilogies by any other studio.

I wouldn't assume that just yet. Bill had said earlier that there was a 50/50 chance that Indy 1-3 would be released. He pegged Indy 4 as 70/30, so there's still hope. I think if Lucas is willing to do it they'd jump at the chance to release Indy on Blu-Ray. They can always release again if Indy 5 were to happen.

There still is a chance that the Indy series is released this Fall. They may release it in December right before Christmas. You never know. There is always the possibility until it is shot down by the studio. I am keeping my hopes up for it this year.

If paramount releases the godfather and the indy series. They will probably have the best Fall lineup of any studio.(iron man, transformers, GF, Indy)

Yeah really. Digital bits says we could hear something today. Im thinking this week they will announce it. Man that would dominate all studios. Paramount is looking to lay the smack down on all the studios with this line up.
