Default NBC Horror Anthology

Quote:
Insidious producer Jason Blum has been approached for a horror anthology series by NBC.

Blum will reportedly executive produce the anthology series with Tony Krantz, whose previous production credits include NBC's Dracula.

The project will receive a ten-episode straight-to-series order based on script approval by NBC, according to Deadline.

Each of the show's standalone stories will be inspired by true events.

Endemol Studios is also attached to the project, while horror-writing quartet Radio Silence are likely to pen the scripts.

The series will reportedly employ the same microbudget filming model pioneered by Blum's production company Blumhouse.

The model has been successfully used on films such as Paranormal Activity, The Purge and Sinister.

What a lame copout.

Inspired by true events (as opposed to Based on true events) is a totally meaningless phrase, since inspiration can have nothing whatsoever to do with the story you tell.

IE: I see a Dog which inspires me to write a comic book series about Elvis. I really did see the dog, so it's inspired by true events!

I'd rather see brand new out of this world stuff inspired by true events than more Paranormal Activity rip-offs.

Inspired by gives the writers more freedom to go to new places with these stories than to have more ghost stories about ghosts throwing people.

I'm in! I love things like this. Not quite the same thing, but there have been a number of fun, guilty pleasure "horror" like shows on networks in the past few years. Fear Itself seems fairly similar to this. Also, Harper's Island was a fun horror show.

I loved Harper's Island and really wish it was a success. Would have liked to get more seasons out of that format.

Woohoo, I'm interested. Love horror and I feel like we don't get enough horror TV (The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, not the fantasy/romance stuff). I hope that Inspired by True Events doesn't include supernatural crap.

Harper's Island was fantastic! I was glued to my TV throughout each episode.

Have you seen Hannibal? And it isn't all about "show" either. Things can be scary/creepy if done correctly without excessive gore.

It's very gory. More disturbing than the violence in cable shows like The Walking Dead or even premium cable channels like HBO. It's crazy how much TV has changed - if it were a film in the '90s it would have to be cut for an R rating. Granted, I've only seen the Producer's Cuts.

Grimm can get pretty gruesome at times. Put the show on after Grimm when Constantine does it's 13 episodes.

Friday paring would be good after Grimm. I doubt we'll see this until next Fall though and if Constantine does good that could get picked up for a full 20+ episode season leaving no room after Grimm.

I really want this to do good. We need more horror anthology shows. Maybe this could get that Tales From the Crypt reboot back into production.

I like this! Perhaps NBC's version of American Horror Story?

Also, bring back Dracula!
