On Monday I sent them an email asking when it would be sent out and they replied that all pre-orders had been sent that day.

Thanks. My copy arrived today in California. If the pre-orders were sent out on Monday, August 11, 2014, that should be the official release date for documentation in my-profiler data-base.

Mine arrived today and I was pleasantly surprised it worked in my non-modded panasonic BDT110 player. I read about this "trick" online and though I'd try it before deciding to buy a region free player. This supposedly works with the panasonic BDT 110, 210, and 310 players.

- Insert non region A disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear
- Press Stop
- Press 1 and the number "1" should start blinking in the upper right corner. Press the "OK" button while 1 is blinking. You may have to try this a few times, as it usually doesn't work the first time. Try pressing OK on the first or second blink and it should work.
- Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie

I just sampled through a few scenes and the 3D is incredible. I wish more modern films looked this good in 3D. Can't wait to watch the whole thing later tonight. Its the first time I've seen the movie and from what others have said it one of the best from the golden era.

Thanks docquest. I have a BDT 320. Hopefully this will work as well.
(Edit) It did! Enjoyed Inferno and now will spend the $ I planned to use for an Icom to get Universal Soldier, T.S. Spivet, House of Magic (now coming out in US), the Hole Dark Country and Need for Speed for starters

Watched this last night. Fun film and it looks absolutely fantastic. It's the best looking 3D color film from the 50s so far, it looks pin sharp and the sense of depth is eye popping. It's one of my most treasured 3D releases now.

It's the first 1950's 3-D release on Blu-ray from a film printed by Technicolor.

The WB titles (Wax and Dial M) were Warnercolor.

Good to know. The 3D clarity of Inferno 3D is rendering super sharp. it's like I was wearing professional Ziess glass lenses instead of plastic. Age anomaly artifacts are minimized too, showing a well preserved source, and the restoration talent of the late Dan Symmes.

When I scanned a few scenes to see how it looked, I saw quite a bit of ghosting and was disappointed. The wife and I just watched the entire movie and not one instance of ghosting. Needless to say, I was very happy but can't figure out what happened. My 4k TV just got a software update so perhaps that was reason. Anyway good movie and good 3D depth. They even throw a few things out towards you at the end of the movie. All in all a very solid pick-up.

News from Panamint Cinema:

Dear Roland

You will be pleased to learn that Fox have agreed to "Inferno" being produced region free.

Release date has not been set, but will be sometime in November.

Spread the word.

Best wishes

Russell

Just want to add...I received my copy today and it played in my Sony 2D player. It showed me the screen where it said it couldn't play the disc because it's from another region, I pushed the 'top menu' button, and Inferno's main menu popped up right away. I chose 2D viewing and it started to play.

So...it appears that the Panamint release of Inferno is not as region locked as once thought.

Thanks and credit goes to 8traxrule for posting this finding and bringing it to my and other memebers attention.

8traxrule was right!! I received my copy of Inferno today. I put it in my 2D Sony blu player that is connected to my Samsung 40''. Screen came up saying it couldn't play the disc due to it being from a different region, I pushed the 'top menu' button on my Sony blu remote, and the main menu to Inferno popped up instantly!!

So...it appears that the Panamint release of Inferno is not as region b locked as once thought...there is this method of getting around it.

Thanks and credit again goes to 8traxrule for bringing this to our attention. You rock 8traxrule!!
