I don't believe Clint Eastwood has any control over this movie. Since Sergio Leone is dead, it is probably up to MGM and perhaps some Italian studios that originally produced it..

I know that "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" has an existing 1080 transfer. It was shown frequently on HDNet Movies right around the time the two-disc DVD set came out, and it's beautiful. Unfortunately, it is the longer cut with the modern re-dubs from senior citizens Eastwood and Wallach, which sound nothing remotely like their voices in the rest of the film. MGM should have just used professional sound-alikes like they did for Van Cleef. Perhaps MGM will give us seamless branching, which will allow us to bypass those scenes.

I have seen an HD master for For a Few Dollars More as well, but it was done by Cineteca di Bologna, not MGM, and used the Italian opening and end titles (although it was shown with the original US mono). It looked, um... less than stellar. I hope MGM has better source materials up their sleeves.

I would certainly think all the "Dollars" films along with Duck,You Sucker and Once Upon A Time In The West(from a different studio I realize)
would make it to blu-ray eventually.

I enjoy the extended version, but Eastwood and Wallach sound very old in those scenes.Eastwood does a little better than Wallach, who was pushing 90 years old at the time the extended version came out!
I held onto my old theatrical DVD,which has the extra scenes, but as a supplement.

I already unloaded my Segio Box set of these films because I know they will release these hopefully in the near future on Blu Ray. I think this set could out sale the Dirty Harry Collection which I also own. Here's to hope!
