Default Letter to Warner

Hi there,

Is it useless to write a letter to warner? With the backing of all of the forum members digitally signing it?

Another idea could be, to open a website dedicated to let Warner and Universal know what fools they are and what marketshares they are losing.

Has this already been done, or is it just useless anyway? Warner can keep their bloody THD and universal better get started on Blu soon enough.

I haven't seen Warner mention anything about Total HD since CES 2007 and the inclusion of both PCM and TrueHD on "300" is a big step in the right direction.

We've also got PCM on The Departed and Blood Diamond and Letters from Iwo Jima had TrueHD on it.

Warner is getting the message. Look for PCM and TrueHD on The Matrix before Christmas and perhaps Batman Begins too.

I'd help with the letter. Somebody's gotta produce a first draft. I'm not going to slam THD though; rather, I think we should persuade for a focus toward the stand-a-lone Blu-ray. Let the strength of the argument stand in the economics and appeal to Blu-ray die hards, no?

Great idea, by the way!...

Yeah, but I am not only thinking of Warner, but also Universal.

I must admit, I am not ready to pay more for THD discs than Blu ray, so I really think we should encourage warner to do the blu stand alones as above said.

Will someone make a draft of the letter?

Also - what about the dedicated website with dedicated domain title to the cause of getting Universals attention (or warners) with a clever sign up thingie.

I wouldnt mind buying the domain if we got a thing going.

If you do it, I'll sign it, as long as it doesn't seem like an act of desperation. The last thing we want to do is bring ourselves down to the level of HD DVD zealots.

Dear Warner Bros Entertainment, Inc.,

As movie collectors and enthusiasts of audio and video technologies, we appreciate your support of the blu-ray format. Many of your blu-ray releases are in our movie collections and we hope to add many more in the coming months and years. As we're sure you're aware, blu-ray provides specifications to hold more data that translates to higher quality audio and video compared to HD-DVD. We have noticed your releases do not capitalize on these advantages of blu-ray and are therefore of lower quality than blu-ray releases from other studios like Sony and Disney.

We are writing to encourage you to more fully embrace the higher data capabilities that blu-ray provides. We understand you need to cover both HD formats for now, but please do not allow this to be at the expense of quality. After all, there is no reason to adopt high definition technologies other than to achieve the highest possible audio and video quality. Please consider this when producing your movies on HD formats to provide your customers with the best possible experience.

Sincerely,

It's always good to let the Studios know your thoughts and views. One letter is not enough though. Every Blu-ray supporter should send one. And not only to Warner, but to Universal, and others.

Address for Warner Bros. and Universal:

WARNER HOME VIDEO
4000 Warner Blvd.
Burbank, CA 91522

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOME ENTERTAINMENT
10 Universal City Plaza
Universal City, CA 91608

Let people know what you think.

You wanted to talk about Total HD? Or just ask them to drop HD-DVD? I was trying to be a bit more subtle.

Don't bother with form letters. Just write something out longhand and mail it to the president of the company. It will mean much more, and there will be much more of a chance someone will actually take the time to read it.

Do both. I like Gremal's letter, and I also like the idea we all send our own. Thanks for posting the addresses. You can bet I'll be sending a letter to them, and I will post what I send on this thread...

I do like that in the sound department WB isn't screwing BD like Paramount is. Also, have you heard something about Matrix and Batman before Xmas, or are you just assuming? (Not inferring anything on your part, just asking)

All of your posts are complaints. I encourage all other members of the forum to look at your posting history. Do you enjoy posting all these negative Blu-Ray posts and then watching others join in? That would be called trolling.
