Lightbulb How to fix Spider-man 3 for a "Director's Cut".

Granted, I have been a Spider-man fan since childhood and waited my whole life to see Sandman on the big screen. So, I enjoyed the movie for the aspects which were palatable.

The problem is this 2:15 debacle needs to be shortened. A good 15 minute trim should make it viewable without any of the pointless nonsense.

Ok, which scenes do we cut out, shorten, or just edit? Does the blu-ray version let us choose the chapters we want to watch and bypass the stupidity? If so, which chapter numbers do we select?

If the fans don't speak up Spiderman 4 could include a scene where Peter Parker has to dance AND cry at the same time.

I would DEFINATELY buy the new cut, replace the original, and pretend it never happened. Ya know, like 2003's "The Hulk".

Things to trim, edit, or cut: (We need at least 15 minutes cut.)
* Shorten the "bad ass" Peter Parker stuff. Only some is needed for character developement.
* Cut the entire bar dancing scene!

Suggestions?

Thank you for putting it out there.

CUT THAT STUPID DANCING SCENE!!!

70% MORE VENOM!!!!

I actually wanna see Richie Cunningham's daughter play Mary Jane...I think she would have been better.

Who knows...

There's no way of fixing it. The entire film is flawed.

Because Venom got forced on the director, so characterization suffered especially for Brock.

If they could cut Venom entirely and leave it just the Black Costume with a tease for Venom in Spider-Man 4, it would have been a huge improvement. Unfortunatly it's not possible or going to happen.

No, because most directors don't really appreciate others mucking with their work

I would cut every scene with Toby McGuire's face. Bryce Dallas Howard scenes would be the only remain footage. They could be edited and put into slow motion and repeated for about 45mins. That would be a good way to start making that film better.

I agree that would have been the way to do it. That being said I still enjoyed it nonetheless and liked it better than the following comic movies:

Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Elektra, Hulk (2003), Catwoman, League of Ext. gentlemen, the Punisher (2004), and Superman Returns.

I like some of those way more than Spider-Man 3.

I just wish the original plan of Sandman and Vulture had been used.

A mid-air battle between New Goblin and Vulture would have kicked butt.

Many musicians have allowed fans to create their own "mixes" of songs (via various mechanisms)

What's the difference with a director providing the ability for a fan to create their own "cut" of a film via Blu Ray.

Some "open minded" directors might be all for it. (Can art be a collaborative process? If not art, then there is room in some cases for fun as well)

A handful only.

Because there are rules and contracts in place specifically to prevent such a thing? If an artist chooses to allow people to remix their song (and I'm inherently against non-artist done remixes, and the sampling scene in general. Make your own music or keep it the way it was)

But just to willy nilly give people that ability in a commercially endorsed fashion? Won't happen

Who said willy nilly? It would have to be a feature on the disc, endorsed by the director.

I would leave it exactly as is, since I enjoyed it more than the first two movies.

Spider-man 3 should have ended with Peter tearing off the symbiote costume and having it drip down to an awaiting Eddie Brock... roll credits... Venom cameo after the credits.

They squished in Venom and it really didn't work.

Agreed. Blame Avi Arad for that. He pushed and pushed for Venom.

get rid of the stupid storyline of the sandman having anything to do with uncle ben's murder, and get rid of venom. shorten the dance scene but don't get rid of it, and put green goblin II on the glider not a stupid flying snow board. oh yeah, more of gwen stacey.

Don't try to fix other people's work.
Either like it, or don't. But do leave it alone.

And why do people always want to cut movies? Is it that you just can't sit still for 2:15? For me personally when I am looking to buy a disc for my collection one of the things I do look at is the movie length. And if it is under 2 hours I feel like I'm geting ripped off. Nothing worse than paying $30 for a 90 minute movie. If it's 3 hours or longer, that's the best.

Leave the film the way it is, fix the viewers instead.

I like the movie but wasn't crazy about the dance scene (a little too silly). I gave the DVDs to my parents but my dad doesn't seem to like Toby McGuire for the part. I think he said something along the lines of "he's too young and scrawny looking" for the part.

I'm fine with him in the role though and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane.
