Default Indiana Jones Timeline

Hi everyone. With the recent release of the new Indy movie, I have gotten really interested again in the indiana jones series. I was wondering if anyone knew the correct chronological timeline for the whole series including all the books. I plan on ordering the novels and wanted to make sure I read them in order. Thank you.

Tony

Do yourself a favor, don't see the 4th one.

Ignoring the "Young Indy" series, the chronological order is:

1) Temple of Doom, 1935
2) Raiders, 1936
3) Last Crusade, 1938
4) Crystal Skull, 1957

What was the point making Temple of Doom set a year before Raiders? Thats just so confusing to me. I assume we should watch them in order Raiders, Doom, Crusade, Skull.

At the time it was to explain why Marion wasn't in the story. I can't remember all the details, but they didn't want to write her off so quickly. By the time Crusade came out the audience was okay with it.

Same here! Talk about a "page turner." His action set pieces were so well written (and much more Indy-like) it's kind of sad to know we'll never see them on film.

I loved the fourth one! Second best in the series. It also has an 80% positive rating at Rotten Tomatoes. Fantastic ride at the theaters! Welcome back Indiana!!!

I've got Darabont's screenplay saved on my computer. I haven't read it yet. I'm almost afraid to, since it wouldn't take much for it to be better than KOCS, and from what I've heard it is.

Thank you for all the info! what do you guys think on a 5th indiana jones? I was reading that, thats what lucas's oringal plan was, for 5 indy movies. harrison ford said he would be down if it doesnt take another 20 years to make. They were mention Shia Lebouf being the man character and Harrison Ford coming back to help out in the adventure like sean connery did. Although, not sure I like seeing Shia Lebouf in every single blockbuster movie. sure seems like it.

When we start seeing Shia Lebouf in the Iron Man sequels, then my head's gunna spin.

Then invent a time machine and go back to stop it from ever having been made {or for them to pick the alternate script} then {and only then} will I stop hating on that glorified POS.

I just find that a ridiculous reason to be like Oh Marion wont be in this one... Hmmm Lets put 1935 instead of 1937.
