Because its a PS3 the only way you can do it is through PCM as it doesn't have the hardware to Bitstream with HDMI.

Trudat, this should go in either "Audio Discussion" or "Blu-ray Games and PS3".

I know the PS3 can't do it because it doesn't have an HDMI 1.3b connection, but what version of HDMI does it have?

What?! This forum has dragons protecting it?! Shoot, I just came prepared to fight drakes and wyverns. Or did one of the moderators undergo a physical transformation into mythological, flying, reptile-like creatures.

Cut him some slack, fellas.

Anyway, what kind of receiver do you have? You'll probably want to use PCM since ALL of the codecs can be decoded and sent by PCM to the receiver. Bitstream can only send Dolby TrueHD and... something else that I can't remember at the moment.

No, cuz it has to send that out via PCM. I remember when the patch came out for the PS3 to decode DTS-HD that people asked if it was possible for it to be bitstreamed in the future.

Yeah, then DEFINITELY choose PCM. If you have decent speakers it'll blow your doors off. Enjoy!
