Face Off/Blades Of Glory on 28 Aug - Blu-ray Forum

This is a must have movie in itself, and now that I have it on Blu-Ray makes life a little bit better.

Let's start off with PQ: For a movie that's 10 years old it looks great. With a AVC Mpeg 4 transfer it has the right amount of grain, and crispness that we've come to enjoy in a Blu-Ray.

Next up is audio: It has a PCM audio track, along with regular 5.1 DD and 5.1 DTS. The uncompressed track is truly jaw-dropping, the rumble from the explosions actually shook a couple of pictures of my wall.

Last on the list special features: Or the lack of. You only get a trailer and a action montage, but then again this is a Japanese release so the American one may have some goodies on it.

Now if you want to wait until August to get your hands on one be my guest, but if you want to take full advantage of sharing a Region code with Japan and want to get this movie almost three months early you won't be disappointed.

Go to play-asia.com and order you a copy!!!!!! Or wait for the U.S. to catch up and hope they use the same transfer and audio track on that one.

there's a Face/Off special edition coming out on DVD later this year. One would think a BR version would accompany it

The OP is talking about the Japanese import. The US release is coming out in a few months - but not with the nice PCM the Japanese one has.

Oooh...didn't know the Japanese version had PCM - I'm stuck with DD no matter if I go red or blue.

US and Japan share the same region on BD if that answers your question. No idea if it is region free but it will play on US players.

Face Off's finally coming have been waiting for this one for a long time it says on the upcoming movies on this website thats the one on my list dont care about blades of glory

Sorry to disappoint but Face/Off along with a few other that are listed i.e. Ghost/Officer and a Gentleman were previously announced as releases but were taken off the market awhile ago-the coming soon section may not have been updated with those moratorium titles.

I'm sure they will be announced at a later date but currently they are a no go-sorry.

A paramount insider has stated that TrueHD has been removed from the hd-dvd of Blades Of Glory due to lack of space, PCM is still on for the blu-ray. I REALLY hope it is true!

Wait... Blades of Glory is supposed to have TrueHD? What in the crap?! This studio has released World Trade Center, Flags of Our Fathers, We Were Soldiers, Dreamgirls, and Face/Off (well, coming up) and the first movie they use uncompressed sound on... is Blades of Glory? Depressing... well, better late than never! Hopefully Face/Off will have DTS HD though (rather have that, so that you still can get the 6.1 track where as with Dolby TrueHD it'll be 5.1 with the rear channel matrixed).
