Default Potc 2

Maybe i am am stupid but i thought the second one was not as good as the first movie, while the girl got more beautiful and a lot more active. some reason the first one was much more believeable. i am probably way off base but that is just my thought. the visuals were wonderful though. Sorry posted it twice

I agree with Coltboy. Part of the problem is I had really low expectations when I first saw PotC 1. When I saw it in the theater I was blown away. The story was good, the acting was good, the CGI effects were good, the humor was good. They even threw in lots of references to the Disneyland ride I enjoyed when I was a kid and made that come to life. I bought the DVD and continued to enjoy it on repeat viewings. Can't wait to get the blu-ray (Amazon bundled it with an SACD I ordered and I won't receive them until June 12).

PotC1 raised my expectations for PotC2. But it was not in the same league, except for the CGI and visuals. The acting was too goofy, the action sequences and humor seemed juvenile and forced, the story was convoluted and it lost a lot of the magic of the first one. I will just skip the third because from what I understand it's even worse. It seemed like there were too many cooks in the kitchen during production of the last two movies.

I agree, 2nd was worse, and from what I hear 3rd is worse than second. So, POTC 1 FTW.

I saw the third one and think it's head and shoulders better than the second one, although niether can hold a torch to the first one. YMMV obviously...

In my humble opinion, I think the first movie is a fantastic, stand-alone fun flick. It has the right balance of effects and humour with a great story to tell.

Pirates 2 & 3 have to be considered a single entity as where the story begins in 2, it ends in 3. I think each of 2 & 3 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long - 3 is just shy of 3 hours!

2 & 3 are far too effects-driven and focus on far too many characters and plot twists to make them truley engaging. Where as when making Pirates 1, Disney weren't sure how Captain Jack would be received, they overstated his character in 2 & 3 after the runaway success of 1.

My butt hurt at the cinema after both 2 & 3 but I couldn't not see 3 after having seen 2.

They are good movies and very well made. But I think they would have been better had they all three been stand alone stories as opposed to the long, drawn-out story of 2 & 3.
