The official availability for the $599 BLU-RAY Panasonic with 5 free BLU-RAY movies is second week of June

Quote from Jeff Samuels who is a Panasonic Spokesman.
It will be available in the second week of June," he said”

Question

That June release must be for the American buyers, i see they just released a new upgrade, do you have to download each update or can you download the latest version and get all the upgrades on the newest version 2.1 for the DMP-BD10

It will have all the updates but for this most reason one.

Looks like this will be my 1st BD player. I was going to get the samsung1200 but this seem to be just as good BD PQ & you get the 5 free bd, even thou I don't care about Transporter and Fantastic 4. Unless Samsung drops there price to $500 between now & then.

Yes the Panasonic is an excellent deal at $599 with 5 free movies. The Samsung BD-P1200 can be purchased between $599-$619 from Internet discount websites. The main advantage of the Samsung BD-P1200 is that it has 1080P/24 support for the few people that own compatible displays. Samsung also has a Ethernet jack for firmware updates and most likely has 1GB of memory for BD-live or the player will be out of production after Oct 31st.

They're taking pre-orders for the Panasonic DMP-BD10A at Abt Electronics.

Also here (deal #5) with a free HDMI cable:

http://www.valueelectronics.com/avstc.htm

for the samsung1200 $599 at ecost, I have read some real bad things about them, like selling returned used units as new, charging for caneled orders & some more.

Arrow Panasonic Blu-ray Now In-stock at Best Buy

I just ordered the new Panasonic Player from Best Buy local store...yesterday (Friday, June 8). These are already in their warehouse (in Baltimore, MD). A bulk shipment is due to their stores in Northern Virginia, on 17 June.

However, I was able to place an order at the store, last night, with pick-up at the store on evening of Tuesday, June 12. Price is 10% off list of $599 (I asked for a discount of 10%).

BTW, Panasonic marketing rep., Jeff Samuels also mentioned earlier that Best Buy would get these first, followed by other retailers. I checked with Onecall and Abt and both are taking pre-orders, but neither can provide an expected delivery date.

New Panasonic Global / Blu-ray Dic Player website updated June 4:

LOOKS LIKE THERE'S ALREADY A FIRMWARE UPDATE FOR THE NEW PANNY DMP-BD10A (VER. 2.1) WHICH IS THE SAME FOR THE 1ST GEN PLAYER.
