I sent an email to Synapse asking when it will be released. This is what they said:

"We have been trying hard to get anyone involved for extra features, but much of the cast is not really wanting to participate. That’s unfortunately been the hold up.

Hopefully, we can do something next year."

I was really looking forward to this from Synapse. I had read some kind of Blu-Ray announcement and they mention James Glickenhaus recording a commentary for "McBain" on "The Exterminator" Blu-Ray commentary track. That was years ago now.

Does anybody own or know of a region free/region A compatible BD of McBain? They won't blow you away for sure but still they're OK. I suppose they took the master used for the DVDs, but it didn't look like an upscale.
It looks a bit like Olive's Bronson movies: the difference is not huge but it's an improvement nonetheless.

Someone posted a quote from Don from 2014 - basically the reason why the film had not seen a DVD release at that point was they couldn't find anyone to talk about the movie, which, frankly, is poppycock. Extras are not something to hold a movie hostage for, especially for years on end. It's just stupid IMO. When did we become such an extras-or-bust crowd? A bunch of has-beens paid to ramble on in front of a video camera. Half of these people don't even want to be there. I imported the McBain DVD what feels like eons ago so I couldn't care less anyway but I imagine a lot of people are at a point where they just don't care anymore. Moral of the story: don't sit on movies you've licensed too long because people will lose interest - if they don't import from somewhere else before, that is.
