Probably because the market is still too small, even the readers are a couple hundred dollars.

Doing that is like taking a bat to a person's legs and crippling them for the rest of their lives.

90%+ of computers sold on the market are shipped with DVD Writers, NOT blu ray, it's still to expensive and would drive the cost of computers up about $200.

If they started to produce games on blu ray, the PC gaming world would more than likely end.

Yup, it wasn't til about 4 or so years ago that a lot of PC Games switched to being shipped on DVD-ROMs instead of CD-ROMs. Heck, there's still a decent amount shipped on CD ROMs these days.

I would say that also Boxed media for PC is selling less and less. It may happen one day but downloads for games with services like Steam and Direct2Drive are making it so you dont need a disc.

Heck, I bought Civ IV the other day and it was on CDs. I don't think I've ever bought a game on DVD yet.

PC games haven't gone past 9 gigs compressed as well. What would be the point of having the games on blu ray?

Readers are now under $200.00 (most can be had between $139 and $169) You hit the nail on the head with your first statement - the market is still too small. You can get a DVD+/- R burner for less than $25.00. When burners hit below the 200.00 mark - you will see a jump. Plus PC games aren't limited in their resolution - newer PC games will play at resolutions that exceed that of Bluray right now. In the PC gaming world the only advantage would be disc capacity - but most games wind up on our harddrives anyway. It will eventually get there but the market, burning capability and limited advantages are the main hinderances.

? The vast majority of games have shipped on DVDs for years. The only game I have seen that does not is WoW but that is because it is designed to run on ancient computers.

I totally agree with this guy...pc games don't need gigs of cutscene like on ps3...even when they do, 9 gigs is enough...or 2 dvd-rom... too early for blu...

Dual-Layer discs do the job for now, plus have you seen the price of Blu-Ray drives for the PC?

Not exactly cheap at the moment, although they are cheaper than standalone players, I wouldn't buy one yet.
